130W Dynamic Boost 2.0 on Mid 2021 Pro 17

The Pro 17 mid 2021 got 130W with Dynamic Boost 2.0 (115W + 15W dBoost), but I rarely see it above 115-120W (live monitoring with Afterburner overlay) therefore even using it.

It seems only to get activated when CPU is below 25W, which seems kind of to low, since nearly no game what so ever uses only 25W on the CPU and even when I set the CPU to low on synapse which limits it to 25W PL1 the GPU didn’t what to go above 115W constantly. When I set CPU to low, limiting it to 25W PL1, I kind of see the GPU very shortly boosting above 120W but not really using the full potential of dynamic Boost. My Blade Pro 17 (11800H + 3070) not using the full 130W potential.

I don’t think Dynamic Boost 2.0 is well implemented here. It is nearly impossible to get the 3070 to use the advertised 130W, even when u kind of know what you are doing.

I hope @Razer this gets revisited with a new BiOS.

Also want to know if it’s the same for you guys?

It’ll boost when cpu usage/wattage is low, it also apparently depends the titles. And depends OEM bios and thermal solution it might be different, on blade 14 3070, it’s often hitting 100 watt but when I tried 130 watt blade pro 3070, it never hits more than 110, 110 even maybe rarely, so maybe there’s power limitation on vbios. Keep in mind even the pro still use 230 watt ac adapter, if it constantly hits 130 watt, plus 11800H that can boost pretty high, 70/80 watt, it’s pretty much almost the limit considering other parts to supply, this might result battery discharge while plugged in, which is pretty bad. That’s only my theory though, but you can try other vbios like from brand that matches your blade if you want more performance, of course it’ll come with a risk.
