Sorry for the weird title, but what I mean is, I recently purchased the All Star Bundle from Costco (for $150! what a deal!), love everything it has. Im fairly new to the headset game, Im usually always a speaker person, sound has and will always be a key component for me. The Blackshark V2 X is awesome, very lightweight, and sounds great-when it worked.

Heres where it gets tricky. I was hoping to use both my 5.1 speaker set up and use the Blackshark with the 7.1 software Razer provides.

****Obviously not at the same time****

I was trying to use my speakers while I game and listen to music and movies during the day, and in the late night hours, switch to the headphones.

The set up was easy, and it seemed to work at first, but when I switched the default back and forth, to test if I can do what I was hoping to do, I lost all sound, and the mic didnt work. Also when I switched it back to the speakers, I got small popping sounds and no sound from music or games. Uninstalled.

What im working with
Windows Home 64 (v1903)
AMD Radeon R9 Fury X
16GB ram
intel i7 5820K 3.30
Internal - Creative Sound Blaster Recon 3Di

I am using the Blackshark splitter it came with seeing my computer does not have the single 3.5 plug in. The Creative software reads the headphones fine, and WITHOUT the 7.1 software, works fine, I just have to manually switch from 5.1 speakers to the headphones, plus the mic works great.

As of right now, the software is uninstalled. Yes I registered the scratch off with my account, so reinstalling is no problem. However, I really am hesitant seeing it literally turned of all my sound and mic.

My apologies for the long post, but seeing I am very new to headphones, I felt I needed to be a little more detailed. Thanks for any and all help!

The following article shows which headsets are compatible with 7.1 Surround Sound

https://www.razer.com/71-surround-sound

Sorry to disappoint, but BlackShark V2 has not made it to the 7.1 compatible cut. Maybe that is the reason for the popping noise.

The good news is, there is something better than 7.1. THX Spatial Sound

https://www.razer.com/p/RZ11-13000-0001

You can purchase this software or exchange for 20000 RAZER silver.
BlackShark V2 is compatible with the software.

In the mean time, 7.1 Surround Sound is no use for your pc, unless you have another headset or audio player that supports it. Removing unnecessary software helps to improve PC performance.

If you saw in my first paragraph, I have the Blackshark V2 X, which is on the list. Also, I noted that it came with the scratch off code for the 7.1 software.

Thanks for the input though.

Sorry that I forgot to notice 'X'

In the past there were few threads relating to the 7.1 Surround Sound issue

Yours is a new case.

I am curious as to how your headset is connected to your pc when you mentioned
I am using the Blackshark splitter it came with seeing my computer does not have the single 3.5 plug in

So if your computer does not have a 3.5 plug in than how are you able to use the splitter?

On the front of my Alienware, theres 3.5 plugs for mic and audio for headphones. I should have clarified that. To your links, I see that its happened to other headphones.

I mean, Razer clearly has mine, Blackshark V2 X with pictures, of it being compatible, when you go to the 7.1 info page.
Like I said though, if it cant be done, I am at no loss. They work great the way my set up is now. Thanks for doing research on this minor thing.

Since the headphone works in an alternative method so I don't think it is an issue with the physical hardware. Or maybe the surround sound compatibility on the headset is broken, which I'm not sure.

If you have another PC / laptop, try using your headset on that with both Synapse and 7.1 SS installed.
If it works well on that alternative machine, than we can try looking at your primary pc.

I have also noticed that you have Windows Home 64 (v1903), have you updated this to v20H2

My last resort on your primary pc is taking a look at the software side of things
* Uninstall both synapse and alienware audio drivers (headset and microphone)
* Restart PC
* Diagnose your OS for any faults in the OS source files
* Update your Windows Home version
* Re-install alienware audio drivers (headset and microphone)
* Re-install Synapse (register your headset)
* Install 7.1 Surround Sound software

Test the headset

If this still fails~~~~~
