A few days back I was playing games with some buds and ended up spilling a coke on my 1.5 year old Razer Black Widow Ultimate keyboard. Yes it indeed "works" but the stickiness makes me cringe anytime I hit the bottom row of keys (control, alt, Windows, space-bar, etc.) To top it off I'm low on funds currently so I ended up picking up a $35 USD Cherry MX Blue keyboard off Amazon to hold me over until I can purchase a new Razer keyboard. My question is what is the new TOP OF THE LINE Razer keyboard that has clicky and tactile feedback? Also, does Razer offer anything with Cherry MX Blue or equivalent key switches?
Thanks in advance!!!! All helpful replies are greatly appreciated!!!

You can get a key puller and then use Isopropyl and a rag or toothbrush to clean your keyboard! You don't need a new one. The razer keyboard enhancement kit comes with a key puller and brushes, but you could probably just find one on amazon as well.

Hi Samboni40, welcome to Insider! It is rather unfortunate that you spilled coke on your BW Ultimate. You can prevent this in the future by never eating/drinking near your peripherals, but if you must, at least drink only water/tea or unsweetened beverages. I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I drink coffee at my computer, but that's all that ever makes it to my desk and I've developed the habit of never spilling - on a 3 year streak so far and plan to keep it that way!

As Destrok mentioned above, you should try removing all the keycaps and cleaning it with alcohol. You should also buy some Contact Cleaner and spray the insides of the switches to restore their smooth travel. This might save you from needing to buy a whole new keyboard.

To answer your question directly, there isn't exactly a top of the line model because Razer has so many variations in the BW line now that it essentially caters towards a variety of needs from gamers. However, their newest keyboard would be the Blackwidow X Chroma (you will want to choose the Razer Green switches). There is also a Blackwidow X Ultimate with Both MX Blue & Razer Green switches available.

With that said, it's hard to say whether the BW Chroma or the BW X Chroma is better, they both have pros/cons and there are threads here that discuss that topic. It's also hard to say what the next BW Chroma will be like, which is due for an update. In any case, Razer is marketing the BW X as an alternative design to the BW, not as a successor.

Man, I'd save up instead of buying something that "alright" gotta go for the best and don't waste no money on stuff that's ok.

GDI guys...I was browsing Insider and something made me laugh while I was drinking coffee so I choked and spat it all over my desk, monitor, BlackWidow and Tiamat :scream:.
Right after I posted all that yesterday too :joy_cat:

That really sucks! The irony is almost too much.
I've chocked pretty bad when drinking something and spat out everything and it has always been one of my biggest fears that it would happen while sitting in front of my computer.
    Good luck with the cleaning!

Hi, @Samboni40 , there is no need to trash your keyboard. Simply grab a tool and pop those key caps off and clean your keyboard. If you don't have an "official key-puller," you can use any firm yet flexible tool. Someone suggested a guitar pick. I used a plastic ruler when I self-installed my O-rings. Of course, any damage you inflict is your sole responsibility, but if you aren't using/are going to toss your keyboard, might as well try to save it.

My fiance spilled a thick, sugary grape syrup and was sooo upset that his BW Ultimate I bought him was ruined. I laughed, snapped off the key caps, cleaned them, and reinstalled them. Even got out the dust bunnies that were hiding in there.

Just be gentle when you remove LARGER keys like space bar, enter, backspace, etc. As you can see from the photo, there's metal bars that "hook" onto the key cap.
