So getting ready to play FO76 and got a set of the Kraken V2 .. and wondered if people have gotten the gel-cooled cushions and are they worth it for extended play periods ..

I got them less then a week ago, and so far they are good but they do not really 'cool down' your ears, they more or less keep them slightly cooler then what the stock ones do. The fabric on them is not the best though, i find that they like to slip off my head a bit easier but they are pretty much brand new so it is hard to say if they will change for the better.

I mainly got those ones because the normal Kraken V2 round ones were out of stock when I ordered them, so far I would recommend them if you need to replace the stock cushions on your headset, but just to buy them I wouldn't (unless you want an oval one). Hopefully those ones don't rip on the bottom stitching like my other ear cushions.

thanks .. my headset is new .. but have a small amount of zSilver to use up, which may end up being a razer store coupon that may have to be used in 30 days ...

I got the cooling ovals for the Man O War and loved then for the first while. Right when you put them on it's like the heat gets pulled out of around your ears, towards brain freeze almost. But I've had them for a couple months and don't really notice it anymore. Either because I am used to it or they don't do it anymore. I still really enjoy them for the oval, which fits better on my head. I also got them for a bunch less going to Amazon. Individual milage may vary.

Same story here. They come pre-installed on the Kraken TEs. Having used them, I wouldn't want a set without them. It's a nice cooling touch.

For extended game play you'll likely not notice a big difference--but there is a difference. The gel earcups, and products using gel, are designed to be more of conductor so as MayhemK noted, the heat "gets pulled out" and has more of a heatsink like effect around your ears and head. This is in contrast to straight foam which, although comfortable, most insulates and traps heat in.

It's a good place to spend the zSilver imo.
