    Hey everyone,

I am in the process of working towards a better laptop to take over prime gaming position on my laptop i use now (its crap), and i was wondering whether i should buy a razer laptop or get another company to build one for a lower price, if anyone could pro and con it, that would be really helpful.

Razer laptops are made for gaming on the go, so as mentioned before, you will pay not only for the power but also for portability
If you're not going to carry around your laptop that much there are definitely cheaper options

The new Blade 2016 is definitely a good deal compared to last year. It is $500 cheaper and with student discount at the Microsoft Store you can get about another $200 off. Then it becomes approx $1799 plus tax. Although you're not getting the best bang for your bucks, you are getting great build quality and portability. The most important factor is your budget.

If you are on a tight budget then no it is not worth it. If you received a bonus or you made extra money then reward yourself with one. You will stand out of the crowd when you have one.

You can get laptops with very similar specs for less money to be sure, but if you care about having great specs in a type of form factor you can only otherwise get from Apple, with some nice extras, then you'll have to pay a bit of a premium for Razer. You can get a gaming laptop from MSI/ASUS on the cheap, but it's going to be a big chunky plastic affair, and you won't have guaranteed compatibility with the Core, which IMO is one of the most exciting laptop developments recently.

You ask us is it 'worth it' but what you really should be asking is whether it's worth it to you.

Like many others have mentioned above, they are expensive machines for their specs. You can find gaming laptops with similar or better specs from other manufacturers for less. However, they will not be as thin nor as pretty as the Blade. Razer products are also known for their build quality - the Blades feel like premium devices in your hands because of the unibody aluminum chassis and spectacular screens. Keep in mind that Razer is one of the only companies with a working, purchasable external graphics dock right now which will help future-proof your Blade.

So you have to decide, what's more important to you? Build quality, sleekness, and thin factor or specs and economy? If you only care about the components, then no, the high price tag isn't worth it. If you care about both the components plus the design of the machine and you can justify the cost in your mind, then hell yeah Razer systems are worth the money.

Stay away from the Blade if you've got terabytes of media to store lmao. That's all I can say. Anything other from that, its worth every penny! ;)
