I hate Beats as well, but are the Kraken Mobiles better? I've just heard (heh) that Razer is pretty bad at making headphones.

Beats are overrated they said the sound quality isn't worth the price and plus you are just paying for the name. Guess you have to try it out on a display to see which one you like before you buy it.

Ok so honestly they are both not the best in terms of audio quality, compared to Bose , Hk, etc...

I got the Kraken mobile as a reward and own the first version of the beats solo. The only thing that makes the beats solo stand out is their rather small size, which is handy for carrying, but still wearing beats today is kind of stupid, as everyone knows now that like 80% of it's price comes from advertising, and that rather makes you look dumb.

The Kraken mobile are also not the best, but atleast they are cheaper and in terms of sound quality about as good as the beats. However I wouldn't say they are mobile, as they are huge and very bulky.

Your going to get a really bias opinion here. I would consider three things.

    1. Aesthetics.
    2. Reviews
    3. Audio quality.

So you can tell what it looks like online.
Next read the reviews on the product, make sure its durable and has good sound quality to begin with.
Next, try and find out what they sound like. I know this might be hard, but I know my Target has beats and my Best Buy has a few Kraken audio demos.

In the end I hope you get something your happy with!

    Razer FTW ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I have always been skeptical about Razer audio. I always thought their Forte was mice and keyboards, but every time I have gotten a Razer audio product I have been pleasantly surprised. I love my Kraken Pro's, got some Chimeras for my buddy, and he recently gifted me some Hammerhead Pros. Every time, surprised at how nice they sound and my Kraken's have been holding up for about two years now.

Even just for the fact that Beats add weight to their headsets so they do not feel cheap although they are, I would go with Razer. I own an Electra and the Leviathan, they sound great and I am picky about audio quality. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

  11. I wouldn't really recommend either, and if you have the money for beats, what about something like Sony MDR-100?

If this is your final 2 and you buy 1, then sure Kraken mobile

Exactly ... I really dont get why ppl buy Beats. So overpriced and the quality is totally unacceptable ...

I personally think both headphones are equal in terms of sound: Not that impressive. Maybe try to opt for other headphones outside of the two brands? If you are set on their aesthetics however, then go for it! Be happy! :wink_:

I liked the Kraken Mobiles when I tried them. Sound good and looks really stand out especially with the neon coloring. Beats headphones are decent too. The only thing I disliked about beats were they were pricing the Studio headphones at $300 when their actual value was probably $120 in terms of sound and build quality. Nothing wrong with either but I heard there are better in terms of sound quality like akg, bose, sony, and audio technica. Then theres the high end headphones which we all dream of owning.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:

I agree about this too. The Leviathan came as a surprisingly good item! And I got the Kraken mobile as well, as a gift from Razer insider, couldn't say bad :)

If it has to be one of those above, I would say buy the Krakens. If not, here is my experience as a non-audiophile person:

I had a similar problem. I wanted great looking headphones that still deliver nice sound quality. Bose and Sennheiser are the best companies for sound quality, but their headphones don't look that appealing to me.

First I tried different headphones at a local store, but I don't think that it is really helpful, because you can't do a long term test inside the store.

So I ordered 3 pairs of headphones from Amazon. Sony MDR1RBT (~400€), Samsung Level Over(~180€ down from 350€) and Beats Studio 2.0 Wireless (~300€). All Bluetooth headphones.

So I was able to do a comparison between those.

Sony had the best sound quality, but also the highest price and ugliest design.
Samsungs sound quality was also really good, had the lowest price and a sleek design.
Beats sound was okay, not as horrible as the old ones, but still sound very tinny.

I took the Samsung headphones and sended the other ones back to Amazon. They have standard features that beats for example can't provide atm. Being able to turn off noise canceling, using them wired, if the batteries are dead and a touch/swipe pad instead of clicky buttons. The only downside is that you can't use their app on iPhones.

I can recommend them without hesitating. If you want smaller on-ear headphones they also have the Samsung Level On.

While I love Razer products, I can't say that the Kraken mobile headset is what I'd use for jamming out to my tunes. I usually want something smaller and more portable to carry around with me. That's why I opt for in-ear headphones over a full over ear headset for this sort of thing.

I like the Razer Kraken for use with my iphone for games and chat, with the occasional music listening. But this is when I am at home. I've never understood how people can walk around with headphones around their head or neck all day. It'd drive me crazy....

My personal preferences and rant aside, Razer Kraken Mobile is a nice headset. The sound quality is decent and the headset is comfy. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick those. My family has not had very good luck with beats, although they have ok sound.

Both are decent for the price but if it was up to me I would get something more portable like a in ear headphone. Much easier to stow away when you need, Just coil it up and place them in a pocket. Razer sells the hammer heads and adaro which might fit your needs. I have to say the beats headphones and razer mobile do have a flashy style which people find pleasing. It's kinda like having a chroma keyboard. The lights aren't necessary but it does make the experience a lot more fun. :big_grin_:

I'm going to get the Razer Kraken Mobile thanks to your feedback guys. Also because it is in the Insider Rewards :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

To those that have the Red Kraken Mobiles, would you say it looks more red in real life? In the pictures it looks a little pink.

I remember seeing a thread about the color of the Kraken.
And the answer is yes, somehow the neon red becomes quite pink when it goes on the picture. In real life it is more red.
