  1. So I've been having some issues running Ubuntu 19.04 on my laptop and thought maybe a BIOS update would help (worth a try), but I can't seem to get the update working.

There was another thread further down that suggested running FreeDOS on an USB stick and run the update from there, which sounded like a sound choice. However, FreeDOS does not support UEFI, and I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off in BIOS so that I can boot it.

Other suggestions on how to run the BIOS update are welcome (although "install windows" is not acceptable :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:).

Any suggestions how to solve this? : )

I managed to update the BIOS by extracting the BIN file from the EXE and using an EFI shell to update it.
  3. So I've extracted the BIN file and I've fixed a USB stick with an EFI shell. But I'm slightly scared to continue from here since there were quite a few files inside the update package (EXE). Is there anything specific that has to be done from here? I just want to avoid bricking the machine :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

OK sorry I was a little quick in my response. For the simplest upgrade path grab the following 3 files:

FlashAFU.nsh # this is an optional script

Run the script or something like:

    AfuEfix64.efi Charlotte1_0108.bin /p /b /n /REBOOT

  5. This worked like a charm.
    Thank you! :)
