Blackwidow Elite Volume Wheel skipping levels/not properly responding

Hi everyone,

I Bought a Blackwidow Elite during November of 2018, and since then around mid 2019 I've started noticing that the volume wheel is acting up in three different ways:

  • When using it, the volume will jump up and down, no matter if I try and raise or lower the volume
  • Instead of adjusting the level by 2 points, it'll jump randomly higher or lower by anywhere from 2 to 20 points at a shot
  • The volume will sometimes just change by itself, when the keyboard isn't even remotely being touched

I've reinstalled synapse and reset my computer multiple times since then and this issue isn't resolved. I've managed to ignore this problem for quite a while (as it is now late 2020), but it's honestly just annoying at this point.

My current setup is as follows:
- Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.959)
-Razer Synapse 3, 3.5.0730.072314

Has anyone else experienced that issue with this keyboard ?

If performing a clean installation following this guide doesn't help, we may need to look into your RMA options. Please PM me the serial number of your keyboard. I'll take it from there.
Hi all,

Have the exact same problem with my Blackwidow Elite. I did not experience this issue at the beginning of my purchase some time around the end of 2018. But just like @Keikou_ my Blackwidow Elite started to experience the exact same problem. Usually I work in the office so don't use the keyboard that much, mostly for gaming so don't use the scroll wheel that much. But now with co-vid this small irritation is getting a lot bigger.

Has an solution been found? Because I saw more similar topics on reddit and fora online. But other then a clean install of Synapse I could not really find a good solution.

I love to hear if solutions are available. Cheers!

@SalkoJ If reinstalling the app and cleaning the keyboard doesn't help, you highly likely have a faulty rotary encoder. You will want to get the keyboard replaced. Send me the serial number so I can help you submit a warranty claim should you want to go that route.
