Blackwidow V3 - Onboard Profiles Issue

I just got the blackwidow v3, as I previously had the blackwidow v1. I am having an issue that was not present on the v1 where the profile always switches to default if the razer app is not running. This also applies at startup and shutdown. I set the onboard profile to a static color in the app, set that as every onboard profile, and then set it to an onboard profile. The onboard profile doesn't seem to do anything as the colors just start rotating again once the app is no longer running for any reason.

That is a normal behavior of RAZER peripherals that utilize Synapse 3.
Until Synapse 3 is running in the background, all peripherals of RGB and features will be set to default.

Even when you lock your Windows account (Windows button + L), I think the Synapse app enters "sleep mode" which make the peripherals lose the user's Synapse configuration.

I had a BlackWidow Chroma V1, where the onboard profile remains intact on the keyboard, and beautiful colours as far as the eye can see.

But there is an issue to this and I have seen it. Many computer enthusiast look for ways to creating their own software or utilize other software to create their own RGB or key adjustments; pretty much "peripheral hackers". But what this foreign adjustment does, it creates software realteration on the keyboard circuitry (flash ROMs). So the keyboard features of RGB co-ordination or key adjustment is no longer controlled by Synapse, but by this foreign way.
So if the keyboard is sold to a new buyer, the buyer cannot use Synapse to change the keyboard features.

By creating the Synapse 3 way, even if the peripheral hacker changes keyboard features, it will not be permanently saved or stored. Preventing software realteration.

Kind of like a computer RAM, the data you send to RAM is stored temporary, but once the computer shuts down all memory is lost / deleted.

Razer peripherals must remain connected with Synapse 3 running in the background to maintain the lighting. There is goods and bads to this design.

The good, is that any foreign realteration does not permanently change the RGB or key mappings
The bad, is that there is a constant link of data flow between the RAZER peripheral and Synapse 3. Thus the people that use USB Multi hub with all their peripherals can face data flow bottleneck. Causing the peripheral to lose connectivity to Synapse. The thread that I have been investigating as well as my understanding of USB Multi hub against the high tech peripherals.

So the V3 does not have the magnets to hold the wrist rest in place, its missing a strip of macro programmable keys, missing the audio and USB passthrough, and missing onboard memory. That seems. like a bad trade off for an audio wheel and the caps not being sunk into the board compared to my previous V1. Thats brutal.

That is the reality of consumer products
No such thing is a 100% perfect satisfactory of consumer products.

As what I have mentioned in my last post in the following thread

/peripherals-mouse-keyboard-disconnect-many-times.33847/page-7#post-728828

Between consumer product companies they all have products that have certain advantages and disadvantages, likes and dislikes, goods and bads.

Just a matter of how you accept this reality is up to you.
Complain and move to the one you really want, or see the good side of consumer products and learn to enjoy it.
Either way I appreciate the quick response. Its still a solid keyboard though. Do all modern razer products use the constant connection to the app like that?

I wish I can answer it with confidence.

I think I will answer via "logical understanding"

When designing a program or computers they all have sets of "rules to follow". Programs are like math; it follows a specific instructions, actions it and gives out results.

I own 4 RAZER devices that interact with Synapse 3.0. As I mentioned about the maintain data flow between RAZER peripherals and Synapse 3.0, my devices and its keys and colour co-ordination all get set to default when Synapse 3.0 is not active.

I also tried helping a MacOS Insider on this thread. Insider has a Huntsman, which she wanted to use on her MacOS, but came with a problematic fn button. I advised her about the "onboard profile" possibility, but it failed because of the way how RAZER peripherals are designed to work.

So my logical answer is, yes I believe so. All modern RAZER peripherals that interact with Synapse 3.0 works via non-onboard profile.

I believe RAZER peripherals that work with Synapse 2.0 has an onboard profile functionality.

Which is why it does not need Synapse 2.0; you only need to use Synapse 2.0 if you want to change the features on the peripherals.
this is really bad. In my case, I have connected my Huntsman, Basilisk V2 and Goliathus Pad via the USB Hub of my Monitor to my Desktop and my company Laptop. On the company Laptop, I am not allowed to install any non approved software.
Before purchasing, I was relying on this statement from the site https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards/Razer-Huntsman/RZ03-02520100-R3M1:
And if you’re without internet access, simply save up to 5 profiles via hybrid on-board memory.

I have assigned simple profiles for work to integrated memory. With Fn+Menu, the active Keys changes the colour, after releasing I have the Spectrum profile again.

Why is this? Am I violating company regulations just because this keyboard is trying to install software by itself?
What is the benefit of such a such a behave?
All I can think is to have a record of keystrokes transmitted which makes it even more worse.

Must I submit this behave to our DSO, just because I connected this keyoard?

Who can I ask to get reliable answers?

Thank you.

Which is why at work, I use RAZER peripherals that has its own onboard memory profile

  • RAZER BW Ultimate V1
  • RAZER Deathadder 2013
  • RAZER Goliathus Extended Control (non-RGB)

Compared to RAZER BW Ultimate V1 to RAZER BW V3 Pro, except for the colourful features, interaction with Synapse 3.0 and wireless interface, the feel of the keyboard key press is similar.

The reason why people want latest of latest is because of the RGB features. It is a modern time phenomenon that many battlestation enthusiasts go crazy about. All RGB!!

At home I use RAZER BW Stealth 2014; I like the silent + tactile feature of the key press.
for me it was the first contact with razer products, and I feel more and more confident, my last also.

I had an HyperX Alloy I Keeboard with cherry brown switches, and a logitech g403 mouse.
Both devices was starting stroking a single click 2 times. So I tried the Basilisk V2 from Razer for the mouse replacement.
I liked the haptik, so I ordered the Huntsman Elite keyboard.

With this, I also like the haptik, this optical switches are great.
But that I cannot switch to a stored profile when the keyboard is connected to a laptop that do not has Synapse is a terrible design

The customer support is not able to read or understand. The question how to set a stored profile without having Synapse installed was answered with reinstalling Synapse instructions. I give up here.

My conclusion as by now is to initiate the warranty process.
Its really to bad to make such a great product as this keyboard unusable by greedy software design.

Thanks and Regards

No such thing is a 100% satisfactory consumer products and services.

Every consumer products compared to their competitor or predecessors have its advantages and disadvantages, ups and downs, goods and bads, likes and dislikes. It is just a matter of how you like to accept it is a question.

There will never be a consumer product/s that will give 100% satisfaction as long as the competitors and fixated satisfying predecessors exist.
I disagree here. I pay lots of money to own the keyboard and mouse. It said it can store profiles one the storage of the device. I did this.

But it turned out that I need additional software on the connected device, which requires a cloud connection, that could technically record all keystrokes and sent it?
Is it to much to ask that I do not want this?

Can you fulfill the option in the product site:
And if you’re without internet access, simply save up to 5 profiles via hybrid on-board memory.
it does not mention that this special waste synapse package.

Am I asking to much? Will it be normal to have everyone listening to you actions?

Even I have my standards that define the meaning of a good product, if that standards are breached then that is where I raise my voice also.

You can attempt sending a message to RAZER officials and maybe they will think about re-developing their products.
thank you, I really appreaciate your answer. I still hope that I do not disobey our company regulation with external devices, while connecting tis poison, and I wish I could set the default profile to lights white constantly. Such a simple reqiurement

I have the same issue. Bought a BW3 for my girlfriend assuming the on-board memory/profiles would be usable on computers without Synapse. She's using it with her work computer mostly, which she cannot install software on. When I hit fn+menu, I too get the profile-color (I even tried putting the same profile in all of the slots). It starts up with her color settings, but then it start cycling. When I hit fn+menu on a computer with synapse installed, it does cycle through the profiles. Seems like something isn't working as intended.

Tried putting in a support ticket, but I kept getting Network Errors from the site. Mildly frustrating experience.
Thank you for confirming this issue. It is really terrible. You pay 200 Eur(in my case) for a device that forces you to expose every keystroke.
Even if you just log out from the cloud you cannot set any profile.
The Razer support is a pain.
In my opinion, Razer does not fulfilling this statement
And if you’re without internet access, simply save up to 5 profiles via hybrid on-board memory.
So I asked the supporter for a money back, since then was silent.
The haptic of this device is really good, but I dont want to be tied to this spying software.
Frustrating descibes it well.
Admittedly, this whole manner of how Razer's not-so-onboard profiles have been handled is precisely why I'm gradually moving away from the brand. This comes up all the time and Razer clearly doesn't get it.
Yes, I confirm, the backlight profile in the keyboard does not work for me either, it is very frustrating when you always have to keep the synapse turned on, or if you need to connect the keyboard to another PC, then there will no longer be the backlight that was on the main PC, I bought a keyboard in Ukraine, namely razer blackwidow, I myself am Ukrainian, sorry if what about my English, I also noticed that the switches somehow stick, something like that, and there is a dull sound on one key without a click, what do you think is a marriage? is it worth sending to the warranty center, thanks in advance for your reply
it is more terrible than I ever could imagine.
The most expensive keyboard I ever bought is not able to set a stored profile when connected to home office device that does not allow to install this special garbage software Synapse.
Does anyone want to buy a huntsman elite keyboard? Bought in januar 2021 directly from razer store, for half prize?
I would buy this keyboard from you for half its cost, but I live in Ukraine ... And where do you live?
thank you. I have no experience with sending technical items to your country. I live in germany. I do not have the original package anymore, my wife made her clean routine. Thats why I cannot sent it back to Razer. And I dont want to get into troubles with sales and shipment issues. I try to sell it locally. I have connected back my HyperX Alloy and happy with this.
may I ask an off topic question to the experts, what do you think of this device:
https://mountainggshop.com/products/everest-max
I asked in advance make another wrong decision
answer was:
The Everest keyboard keeps all the settings in internal memory.
So it's possible to configure the lightning on one computer and use the same scheme on another computer which does not have the BaseCamp software installed.

why does Razer does not fulfill such a simple requirement?
I offered my razer keyboard to local second hand shops, hope it works out.
For me, Razer is to the right brand, I may be to old, I will get rid of this devices ASAP
in case someone is interested, meanwhile I received sent back instructions from Razer.
It is such a pity that such an excellent hardware is unusable by bad software design.
My sent back has arrived Rotterdam/Holland
How do I connect the keyboard to razer synapse 2? I am on mac, so IDK if it will work
It is asking me to connect a Razer Synapse enabled device, but I am using the Razer Blackwidow v3 rn. Does this keyboard not have Razer Synapse on it?

BW V3 require Synapse 3.
You can find out what devices interact with Synapse 3 by clicking the below

RAZER peripherals that interact with Synapse 3, cannot interact with Synapse 2 (not 100% true, peripherals can interact with both software)
You can find out what devices interact with Synapse 2 by clicking the below

MacOS can only utilize Synapse 2~~~
