So, I need a new laptop. And at the risk of sounding blasphemous, I have selected two that are within my budget range (1600 USD): Refurbished The New Razer Blade (14") and the Asus ROG G750JX. The problem here is that, to me, both systems seem to be as good as the other.

The Razer Blade is very much more portable, and it is RAZER, but the ROG G750JX has 3D capabilities. I really cannot choose which one to buy.

So, opinions, anyone? Recommendations for other brands and models are welcome, and give your personal opinion for the choices too. Thanks!

They both have similar processors, the Asus has a better graphics card, the Asus has a blu-ray drive (good but depends whether you need it or not - adds to weight and depth). Also the Asus has a full HD 17.3' 1080p 120hz display compared to the blade's 14' 900p 60Hz screen. As this is a Razer forum, people will definitely say the Blade but the I sadly cannot find any better specs on the blade, please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that the Asus is better. I would say the blade is better for a more portable lighter gaming experience.
Please don't kick me from the forums @RazerStaff.

Haha, LOL, you won't get kicked, I hope. I have a friend who owns the Asus G750JX and he says its as heavy as heck, like, about 6 kg.

Would you recommend I wait for upgrades of the Blade to be released or to just buy the heavy laptop already? Also seems to me that Asus is not the only brand to produce laptops with 3D capabilities. Maybe there's a custom brand out there that has 3D, which is lighter and probably cheaper? Could just etch the Team Razer Logo on it...

    Still... Razer IS Razer...

For higher specs maybe the Asus would be better even if it's 17.3 inch laptop but for portability, beautiful looks and the capability to game on the road definitely I think the Razer would be better.

honestly if you want to carry it around at all don't get a 17 inch laptop they are ridiculously big to carry around.

I would go with the Blade for the same reason the previous poster said. If you're actually looking for a laptop, 17" ones start to get unwieldy to carry around. If it's going to be your primary system or sub in for having a desktop, then the slightly better hardware says get the Asus.

True, that, but the 17" Rzaer Blade is ultra portable. One of my friends own it, he says the only problem is finding a bag large enough for it to fit.

I guess it really comes down to whether you want a bulky laptop or a slim and sleek one

I travel a lot for work and I can carry my 14" Blade and my 12" Lenovo (work) in my Tactical bag with no problem. I'd rather carry the two smaller laptops than one huge laptop like the ASUS. Now, if I could just talk my employer into letting me use a personal laptop for work....

It depends also on what you need it for? Do you really need 3D?
17" is not necessary in my opinion. I was on the market not so long ago for a new laptop and I thought I really need a big screen because I'm used to it. I ended up with 15" which is more than enough.

There are plenty of 15 inch laptops available, but the trend is that manufacturers make the 15" laptops less powerful than the 17.3" ones (*cough* ASUS MSI *cough*). As for 3D... maybe not, I could just buy the non 3D laptop, certainly cheaper. One of my buddies asked me to consider the MSI GE70 Apache 15", and checking it out, I was thinking, maybe buy THAT instead?

@nanias skipped the reasons and referred directly to your headline ;)

If you want to be mobile, buy the Razer, because the Asus is damn heavy. If you have the NB just on one place you can buy the Asus (better and larger screen). On such a small screen is 3D is not worth the money...

Well the thread title is "Buy the Razer Blade?" and I just answered it with "Buy it!" Few words say it all.
I didn't even get into the comparison thing since the Blade is The best mobile gaming notebook period. IMHO

Lol, true, but I'm working off a budget limit here, so still thinking whether to save up, or just buy a cheaper but no less impressive system.

You have to ask yourself if you'd be happy with the cheaper system. If so, buy it. If not, get the Blade. It's a simple question. Maybe not a simple answer. :)
