Buying from Australia and import taxes

Hi there,

After spending a lot of time on chat, I got disconnected.

It was about ordering a laptop on Razer Australia and I am worried about the import taxes. Are we getting charged for the taxes by Razer and/or by the customs via Fedex at delivery?

I am worried I will get charged few hundreds dollars on top of the AUD3749 that i will be paying Razer.

I understand it is in the FAQ, but it is so vague on what we are paying. Support guy in chat told me Razer has changed their process and now the taxes are included in the total price (AUD3749) and Razer transfers the taxes to the government of destination.

Has anyone ordered from Razer Australia to deliver in Australia recently?

Previous post from 2018 shows that customers had to pay extra at delivery.

I hope you can help me.

Thanks

When I redeemed zSilvers for RAZER product as per the following thread, I got charged between $5 to $8 NZ dollars on import tax.

So in my analyses of RAZER product purchases, you will need to pay import tax fee.
How much you ask? you probably need to ask RAZER support, but I think it depends on the item.

Factors of how the tax get calculated~~~

  • Weight
  • Value
  • Item type
I have been asking the Razer support and no one is capable of giving me a straight answer. It should not be "might" "probably".

Paying $3749 is different from paying a total cost of $4300 if there are extra import and customs fees, and that is the issue here. I do not have $3749 hanging around to make an order, wait for the import fees to possibly come and eventually decline it and wait extra days for a refund. It should be clear and neat what we should expect.

Other brands do not get "taxed" or "charged" on top of the total cost and the goods are coming from overseas as well. A website like https://www.bigapplebuddy.com/faq/ is pretty clear here there is no charge.

Australian Border Force or FedEx do not want to confirm anything either?

I guess I am just looking for an Australian customer on the forum, but they seem very rare due to these difficulties.
