Can i add a secondary SSD for storage without voiding my RazerCare?

Hello,

I'm about to buy a Razer Blade 15 Advanced 15.6" Full HD 300Hz i7 RTX 2070 SUPER Max-Q Laptop but I need a secondary storage Hard Drive for Storage.

I have heard from a shop that I would be able to add another nvme SSD so I'm considering buying an Intel 660p 2TB M.2 PCIe QLC 3D Performance NVMe SSD/Solid State Drive

Can Razer confirm that this model would be compatible with such hard drive and that i would be able to install it myself without voiding my RazerCare?

Thank You

You can replace the stock ssd that come with the laptop but there is not another ssd slot. I have the same laptop (razer blade 15 advanced model 2020 with rtx 2070 super) and there is only 1 slot for ssd. The base model come with 2 slot but not the advanced model.
Thanks for the information @Podupuis.

The website I'm looking to buy my RBA ( scan.co.uk ) says the 300hz version does have an available "1 x M.2, 22-80, PCIe"...

I have also sent an email to Razer and they are taking days and days to reply..

So frustrating to have to wait so long to get official information when you wanting to buy a new laptop :(

I would love to get a 300hz version and have it with 2TB storage at least...

Also, I'm wondering if replacing the SSD on the RBA on adding extra SSD on the RB would void the warranty..

@zunk3r Yes, you can upgrade the storage device up to 2 TB. No, replacing the SSD on the RB15 advanced model will not void the warranty. But any damage or issues caused during installation or as a result of incompatible parts being used is not covered under the warranty and may void the warranty coverage.

Edit: The RB 15 2020 Advanced Model only has one storage slot. You will have to replace the SSD that it came with to upgrade.

@zunk3r Yes, you can upgrade the storage device and add another one.

So I can add a second nvme SSD on the RB Advanced 2020?

Would this model -> "Intel 660p 2TB M.2 PCIe QLC 3D Performance NVMe SSD/Solid State Drive" be compatible with the RB Advanced 15" 300hz 2020 ?

According to @podupuis it would not be possible, so it would be great to get a final reply from the official support!

I would love to have 300hz 15" model and add extra storage!!! ( :

AFAIK from @podupuis if i get the Advanced 300hz i have to replace, if i get the regular Blade i can add.

According to "Scan.co.uk" which is the website i'll probably buy, i can also add to the 300hz, so I'm a bit confused since the official website don't say anything about extra SSD and @podupuis reported a larger battery without extra space for SSD.

If you go to razer website, you can select the specs page. You will see. The base model have an extra nvme ssd slot. The advanced model does not. The advanced model have a bigger battery that take the place of the extra nvme ssd slot on the base model. I had to upgrade my ssd on my advanced model to get more storage.

Thanks for the info! What SSD did you get? Do you have any recommendations?

Sabrent make nvme ssd that are cheap, fast and reliable. They are pretty much made exactly like samsung 970 Evo/Pro.

I have been using mine for a while and never had any issue with it. They came with a 5 years warranty too!
Just to make clear @Razer.Caziel, if i want to have 2TB storage on my RBA 300hz i'll have to replace the SSD right? I can't have two SSD on the RB Advanced 300hz.

@podupuis made it clear that he have that model and there was no space for extra SSD.

Yes. I can guarantee you that the razer blade 15 avanced 2020 only have 1 nvme ssd slot. You will have to replace it if you want more storage.

The base model have 2 nvme ssd slot but have a smaller battery.

Yes and i guess the base model can only go up to 144hz, at least on the configurations that are available to me here online on local shops

@podupuis is correct about the storage slots for both the base and the advanced model of the RB15 2020. Only the base model has an extra M.2 slot.
