The USB-C dongle of Razer Barracuda X sits in a weird place on my laptop (Dell G15) near the right fan. I was wondering if the heat coming out of the vent could damage the dongle. Also, if I use the dongle with the Type C to Type A USB adapter to avoid the heat, would the transmission speed drop?

You must keep the dongle away from humidity and should operate the device within 32°F-104°F. It is also advised to plug the dongle directly into the motherboard. You can check this guide for safety guidelines and how to set up your headset. Feel free to check our self-help page for product updates and troubleshooting steps or PM me anytime should you need further assistance.
