Celeste Chapter 9: Farewell DLC is out today! So if you already own the game, the kind developer's at Matt Makes Games created this free DLC as a love letter send off to thank the fans for its massive success. I only just discovered this game and I'm only a few levels in and it's already been super challenging for me.

And that's where I get torn on my time investment. This game is beautiful and the music is excellent. But, it's not easy. It requires the hand-eye coordination of my younger self, but in my older age, I feel like it can be a bit daunting. Pushing through definitely gives me a great sense of accomplishment when successful, but it doesn't come without its curse words and wanting to throw my Switch into the wall. This is probably why I refuse to play Cuphead. It also doesn't help that the game shows you how many times you died.

So, Insiders. Tell me, do you like super challenging games? Or do you like things on EZ mode. Will you play Very Easy mode on Death Stranding when it comes out, or do you pride yourself on playing the devil's difficulty?

This is your Thread of the Week. Good engagements will get Silver.

When i was younger i loved hardcore gaming, searching for max difficult mode, 100% of a game.
But now that i've mush less free time, i prefer more easier games that still present a challenge, being unable to spend the same amount of time and energy.

Celeste is already on my must-play list, definetly another reason to try this indie prodigy!

I need to play all previous 8 chapters before I play this. I'll give it a try
The game kind of reminds me of Super Mario

I think it depends on the game and the mood I am in, some games can get way to boring if on EZ mode so cranking up the difficulty is good and challenging. Other games having EZ mode on makes it a lot more fun to play and doesn't get to frustrating.

I prefer moderate difficulty... Super hard gets me to rage quit after a few tries :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I love the score/ soundtrack of most 2D games. I feel indie studios nail that part better than most AAA game studios.

Now a free DLC is where I want to see the gaming community go towards. Good on the devs for not trying to milk money out of loyal fans and rewarding them with this instead.

I think we're way past the 2d indie games. It's 2k19 there are way more awesome games out there to focus.

Hard games are the best. I have just finished Sekiro...maybe I should give this game a try too:smile_:

I like Normal or Hard mode. If it's too easy it can be a bit more boring and less rewarding, but if it's too hard then it's frustrating and not fun. I really liked Cuphead, but wow... I was very happy just to finish it, I wouldn't ever try to get an S on every level:eek_: I don't ever play games twice anymore but if I did then I'd try the Nightmare mode with the New Game+ just to keep it more fresh.

I think this applies for many games, as the pixel-indie has been done to death especially in the past 5 years, however there are still many indie titles which don't feel forced

Celeste is just an example. But, really this can apply for any game. Let's take a game like World of Warcraft. Are you playing for fun and entertainment or do you need to be doing Mythic raids? Do you have to play competitive on Overwatch or are you ok with Mystery Heroes? Permadeath, on or off in Fire Emblem?

Also, I could never play Dark Souls or Sekiro. It sounds like punishment.

Geez, free content is always welcomed and appreciated.

About hard core - some finds fun in beating the impossible - in tortures ;), and other just not.
I'm glad that there's something for everyone.

After an excellent Towerfall, the master studio of pixel art offers us a true masterpiece.
the adventure platform is super catchy, little repetitive and super hard.
The story is very beautiful. A little gem to do as soon as possible ..
