Hey guys, so i'm about to buy a keyboard for and i was wondering which you would be more likely to recommend or just what the community favorite is, black widow chroma te or black widow X te, i have no preference just yet, but am leaning towards the x, so let me know what you think

I would Recommend the Blackwidow X. It has a metal body, and is more sturdy. If you don't care about the usb and audio pass-through, and no metal back plate, it is the best. Also, the key cap font is a lot more professional, and looks a lot cleaner. That's just my opinion though. In conclusion, I saw it in person at Razer store San Francisco, and I loved the appearance.

I agree with the above. I have the X but I struggled with which version to get initially. The metal body plate is really nice and the RGB lights look a lot better in person then they do on the website. Plus I wanted to make sure I got the new switches and you never can tell which version you're getting on Amazon in terms of the regular blackwidow chroma, this years version or last years?

The x looks easier to clean under the keys. Unlike the regular bw, you have to pop the keys out.

I would get the X. It looks a lot better and it would be easier to clean, I have the Blackwidow Chroma and it's a nightmare to clean , and it also has a solid metal design. I also like the cable management built into the bottom of the keyboard.

I've seen my friends blackwidow chroma with the white back plate. While the white blackplate does make it look a wee bit brighter, the colors come out all washed out and pastel looking. IMO the X colors are more true to reality.

I have the regular Chroma and I think it's slightly better than the X. I regularly use the Macro keys and the USB pass through is necessary for me. The lighting is much brighter than the X. which a friend of mine has, and doesn't really look washed out. However, if cable management is a priority for you and you don't care about lighting or the macro keys and pass throughs that much, the X is the way to go.

One thing to note with the X is that since there is no backplate light will shine out from the back, if you have a particularly glossy finish on your monitor this will be very noticeable.
  9. A lot of people are talking about the full size keyboard. They seem to glance over the fact that you're asking about the Tournament Editions of the keyboards. Personally I'd go with the regular because of the nice carrying case and a detachable cable, but it's really just up to you.

A lot of people have commented that the BW X has a metal body. The original BW does too, it's just protected within a plastic chassis. The BW X is essentially the BW without the plastic cover, hence the "exposed" look. That's part of why BW X is cheaper.

It's mostly personal preference, but here are some pros for both boards:

    BW X TE
    :heavy_plus_sign:Costs less
    :heavy_plus_sign:Easier maitenance
    :heavy_plus_sign:Built-in cable management
    :heavy_plus_sign:Fn and spacebar are backlit
    :heavy_plus_sign:Alternative exposed metal look
:heavy_plus_sign:Keys have 2016 design refresh font
:heavy_plus_sign:LED indicators for caps/scroll lock, gaming mode, etc.

    BW TE
    :heavy_plus_sign:Plastic chassis cover
    :heavy_plus_sign:Detachable USB cable
    :heavy_plus_sign:Original Razer gamer font
    :heavy_plus_sign:Comes with premium carrying case
:heavy_plus_sign:Comes in both Green and Orange switches at the moment
:heavy_plus_sign:Optimized LED illumination via white metal backplate (brighter and cleaner)
:heavy_plus_sign:Matches other Razer Peripherals, such as the Orbweaver/Tartarus/Naga Hex/etc.

My favorite Razer keyboard is the BW TE Chroma Stealth. For me, the biggest factors are the detachable cable and the backlight. The detachable USB adds way too much convenience for me to ever want to go back to using a keyboard with a permanent cable.

I also think the backlight on the X just isn't as nice - it's messy and spills light everywhere. It's also not as bright. Even Razer has said that the original BW has 'optimized & brighter LED illumination.' The following should give you a good idea of how the backlight looks:

The free ballistic nylon carrying case that comes free with the BW TE is super nice too. But as I said before, it all comes down to personal preference. Hope that helps you make a decision!

I prefer the x model since its slimmer and more compact yet it has all the functions of the TE edition (if you don't care about usb and audio pass through).

Thanks for the information guys. I'm also trying to decide on which of two keyboards to but.
