But I can see why they're preferred over everything else for driving and such

    Oh yeah, I understand that.

You might need one if you're playing something like Mario Kart and you want to have super tactile, good response buttons at 1000hz polling rate :joy::joy:

I use a PS3 controller only when using emulators and such... other than that it's mouse and keyboard all the way.

  9. Never use a Controller on the PC but I'd like to have the option. Only just got round to playing LOL but I know my son's leaning towards a steam controller. Time will tell.

I use my xbox one elite controller for some pc gaming. It is hands down the most comfortable controller I have ever held.

  12. Been using a xbox 360 controller for years now. I only use it with driving games, sometimes platformers and zelda like RPG's. Everything else is almost always mouse/keyboard.

    I've used the following:

PS3 controller via bluetooth and a program call DS3 or DSTOOL I think?
Xbox 360 controller with a wireless adapter from Microsoft.
Xbox One controller with a wireless adapter from Microsoft.
Steam Controller from Valve plugged in via USB.

My pick is the Xbox One Elite controller with wireless adapter hands freaking down. Best controller on the market. I have not used the Razer one to be fair though.

I responded earlier but I have had more time with all my different controllers and I must say that the steam controller is not good for any type fighting game the d pad on it is just aweful and due to the difficulty of using ds4 windows the ps4 controller is alright but not very stable. so for those reasons if I cant use my arcade stick then I use a xbox one. but for games other than fighting like csgo or fallout I will use a keyboard and mouse or the steam controller. I would like to get a wildcat and xbox elite controller to try out but I dont have that kind of money

You have not used the Xbox One Elite controller then. It is amazing and well worth 150$ price tag and the 20$ dongle to use it with Windows.
