Cortex causing Steam game running error

cortex seems to confuse steam every so often and makes it think that a game I've been playing is still running (I've confirmed that it's cortex causing the problem, the .exe for the games is not in the task manager and the problem resolved when I closed cortex). Is there's a way to resolve stop this from happening that doesn't mean not using cortex?

To look into this issue, we need your help in gathering more information. Can you please provide the name of the game that you are experiencing this issue with?

And please download and unzip the file and run LogCollector.exe from here, then fill out the Description, then click Output button. There will be a zipped file generated on your desktop with all logs needed.

Please upload the logs to services like Dropbox or Google Drive and paste the link here in the forum.
