    Razer mouse addict here.
    I have had:
Diamondback Plasma (PLEASE bring this back!)
    2 x Diamondback
    2x Mamba

I am inquiring about the Deathadder 2014, as my current mouse cant track for poop when twitch shooting (Quake III, Reflex, etc real twitch games).

I was wondering if you still HAVE to make an account to install the mouse drivers, and you HAVE to be connected to the internet all the time, even in offline mode (synapse)?
Or, has the Synapse online requirement been removed?

    1. You do need to make an account to use Synapse. Your settings are synced to the cloud.
    2. You do NOT have to be connected all the time to the internet to use Synapse (There is an offline mode!).

TL;DR You don't need Synapse to use the Deathadder.

So, in order to FIRST plug in and use the mouse and install drivers, Synapse is NOT needed at all?

I just went to the drivers section, and saw that the download for the Chroma was Synapse.
I wont be getting this mouse, unfortunately.
Its unfortunate that Razer has gone this way.
    Its a mouse.
    Its not a game.
There should be no having to create an account (which I already have, obviously, since I am posting here) to use a mouse.
For people like me who do NOT need cloud anything, and doesnt want it, there should be an option to disable Synapse altogether DURING install.
I dont mind registering a piece of hardware, but this is going too far.
Next, we will have to be online to use out processors? Or video cards?

You don't need Synapse for using Deathadder. It's just good to have because you'll be able to configure it. But you can use it without Synapse if you would like to, just like any other mouse.

So, I can use it without software, like any mouse?
Or, if I want to turn off the lights, or tweak settings, I have to install Synapse?

Sorry, I am not trying to be a jerk about this. I really would like the mouse, but I dont want to have to install synapse, but still have the Razer drivers for tweaking the x/y axis, dpi settings, and whatnot. Like the Mamba and Diamondback were. Just drivers, with local software.

Yes, you can "use it without software, like any mouse", if you mean "tracking, left/right buttons, two side buttons and scroll wheel".
but for lightning settings, DPI/acceleration settings, surface calibration and custom button settings you will need Synapse.

You could even install it, set the settings you want and remove it. I think it keeps its last known settings regardless.

I read that even in offline mode, Synapse still gets the settings from the cloud, then goes offline after downloading the settings.
I did read 1 person say if you dont use synapse, then the mouse reverts to defaults, which is crazy leds randomized.
This is why I came here, to ask people directly, if they have the mouse, what they can do and not do, with and without Synapse.
Thank you very much for the info.

I don't know about Deathadder, but I just plugged my Mamba on a computer without Synapse and it didn't revert to default, it used the same color I've set.

@DunClownMcClown is right. It will save the last used setting even after you uninstall Synapse. I just uninstalled mine to confirm :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

    Thanks for testing that out.
  14. i agree with Dave3d about the synapse software. i really don't appreciate the invasive nature of this software and i will be blocking it in my firewall although I'm not sure if that will help. i really don't understand why whoever made the decision to require the internet connection did so in the first place... it's not like you can download an illegal copy of an orbweaver from the internet.
orbweaver is a brick without synapse.
yes offline mode yada yada yada, not relevant.

this is a bad first impression.
