So my first question is whether or not anyone has done a full keycap swap on any of these Razer mechanical boards? If so, does anyone have any pictures? Next question is whether or not anyone has swapped any out on any of the Chroma mechanical boards, and if you can still see the back lighting underneath on the mounting plate?

I've seen that, and I personally think those keycaps are hideous. I meant something a little more traditional.

Quite a few different sets available on the interwebz but you may run into some trouble with certain keys. http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=227 id say these are pretty traditional design. Don't really know of any sets made specifically for blackwidow but i think most cherry keycaps should work on most of the blackwidow keys. here's a compatibility chart

Yeah, I realize that the bottom row is not the standard ANSI spacing that's used on most Cherry boards. The BlackWidow series uses the 6.0u spacebar, and I've found full replacement sets of ABS ANSI-87 keycaps on sites like Max Keyboard that will be fully compatible with this series of board. I know the Razer/Khail switches are fully compatible with Cherry MX keycaps. What I guess what I was looking for with this thread were some pictures of keycap modifications done to any of the boards in the BlackWidow series. It's most definitely a very common modification with mechanical keyboard enthusiasts, and I was wondering if this board had such a following. I also wanted to see how the board looked with a different set of keycaps on it before I purchased a set for my board.

Those translucent keys look awesome without backlighting, but once it's turned on.... yuck! What a mash of colours.

Yeah, I don't think they look particularly good either, I don't understand why you wouldn't just want to get black blank keycaps instead.

I have not done a key swap but I have removed them for cleaning. You have to be extremely carful. This clips can break easily, so make sure you have a guide or something

Well I'll be doing a full swap coming up here soon, so I'll be sure to post a picture of what it looks like. It seems like the Razer keybaords aren't highly regarded in the mech keyboard space and I'm not really sure why; the BW Chroma TE seems to be one of the very few MX blue equivalent, full mechanical, full RGB backlit, and TKL boards out there right now. I'm assuming you're referring to the "clips" underneath the long keys?

Do you want transparent as in fully clear keycaps?

Yeah I agree. I'd be very tempted with standard black keys. IN fact I'm contemplating trying it...

Just in case anyone was wondering about an update on this project, I ordered some blank keycaps from Maxkeyboard in this configuration for the BW Chroma TE, and now I'm just waiting on them to come in the mail. I will post a picture of what the board looks like when it's complete.
