  1. I was just wondering what the most recommended horror game would be? I'm talking PC or XBOX 360 (yes they still exist).

Dead Space, and Fear seem to be good horror action games from what I can tell. I don't really play horror alot but I have a buddy that loves horror games. He seems to like the Evil Within alot as well as it seems like a call back to true survival horror.

The first two Dead Spaces were good, the third less so. I can also recommend Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth which was originally an Xbox game, but can be gotten on Steam. And I'm not quite sure you could call them horror games apart from the setting, but Sunless Sea and (in early access) Darkest Dungeon are pretty solid.

I'm a huge horror game fan, and since there are sub-genres with in the horror gaming umbrella I'll just list what I have and would recommend:

    Alan Wake series
    Alien; Isolation
    Amnesia: The Dark Descent
    Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs
    Bioshock series
    Dead Space series
    F.E.A.R series
    Five Nights at Freddy's
    Half-life 2 series
Metro Redux / Metro Last Light Redux
    Penumbra series
    Slender: The Arrival
    The Evil Within

I'm really liking The Evil Within. Like Destrok said, it's a true survival horror style game.

Well Five Nights At Freddies is more of a point and click horror game that relies on jumpscares, if your looking for a fps experience id say Alien Isolation and Outlast

Amnesia: The Dark Descent scares me the most. My total gameplay stands at 12 minutes in three separate sessions..and i've had that game on Steam for a couple of years now

For story and atmosphere, I loved Alan Wake. It is definitely a solid game and if you wait a bit, you can typically get it on sale at GOG.com or during a Steam sale.

Alien Isolation and Outlast fit that run and hide, but don't fight, niche that has become more popular since that first Slenderman game. The indies really have a ton of interesting horror related games, like Amnesia Dark Descent et al.

Finally, some classic games like System Shock 2, Clive Barker's Undying and even some of the levels in the Thief series provide some great horror elements. One of my all-time favorite experiences was in Vampire: Bloodlines and I still hold that up as one of my favorite haunted house experiences in a game.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere in YEARS - but it was one of my favorites. I remember taking a break from the original EverQuest to play it. lol

I also have to agree that some of the Thief games have had some levels that were creepy, but it doesn't describe 90% of the gameplay. :)

However, if older and "creep factor" is something you may be interested also try looking at the American McGee's Alice series, Phantasmagoria series, 7th Guest / 11th Hour series, Clive Barker's Jericho, Condemned: Criminal Origins / Bloodshot and even Doom 3 ....

Hope you find whatever most interests you, though! :)

  12. Amnesia and Outlast are great, beaten them both. Amnesia: A machine for pigs is pretty good as well, interesting story too.

Outlast is fun. Alien Isolation is good for some tense situations.

On the Wii, I really like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories ... oh, and while older, I also really like Eternal Darkness on the Game Cube.
