Hey guys, this is a question that always makes me think, it took me (from when i started playing) a bit less then a year to reach gold, i am pretty positive about that (even though i can't climb anymore).

How long did it take you? Tips and tricks to climb that helped you?

i dont think theres much to it for me..ive been gold for 5 years, no incentive to climb haha. i watch pro streams alot, so i am pretty good on the macro and (micro only for specific champs, usually the harder ones), my mmr on my smurf is close to plat after placements, so yeah hope it helps

got my very first placement as bronze V around 4 years ago. reached gold before that season ended now highest rank I attained was Diamond I all I can say is just practice all the role. and find a champion that you're really comfortable on playing. beware of nerfs and check buffs to see whose on the meta, try to learn that champ and climb with it. also it's fun if u have a friend u can duo with that will make sure that u already have someone u can rely on if u tilt or something XD
  4. I'd recommend worrying less about rank and more about improving as a player. I never played ranked in any serious capacity and was placed against Diamond players on average back in Seasons 3-5 when I played normals/arams. Work on improving mechanics and learning to play your main champs better. Nothing beats experience. Try new combos and play styles and see what works for you.

starting the game without knowledge about the 10 ranked placements hurts, i lost 7 games and won three and got placed in Silver IV, took me the whole season to get into s3 and then season 6 ended, as an adc main i played the meta to climb from bronze IV to gold IV in season 7

I mean it all depends on how much time you have to play and how motivated you are to get better. For me, I just continue to watch other people's perspectives on the game, but one of the most important lessons I learned was to think about what the other player is trying to do.

one season (silver in s3 and hit gold in s4) you just have to be dedicated to playing well, and find the faults in your own gameplay rather than teammates. Teammates are always going to be good or bad, and the only thing you can do is improve yourself!!

Started playing in late S4 and rushed into ranked, which didn't help me. Made gold in S6, at the very last minute and been rising ever since.

From silver 2 it will probably take me 2-3 days.
    Tips to climb:
Have at least 3 champs you're confident to play with (should be different roles). Champs you wanted to use must be easy to play with, good laning phase, high game impact.
Each and every game there will be "useless, toxic, whatsoever" team mate in each team. Duo with a friend you can rely on = 1 less toxic team mate
Always remind your team to stop blaming each other, playsafe and focus on cs, win later.
