How many frames per second do you think is playable? I personally think that really demanding games that look good are fine at 30 fps as long as they are not first person shooters. I do need 60 in games like CSGO for obvious reasons. A lot of people might disagree with me however, I prefer 30 fps and better visuals to 60 fps.
Ive had to live with low 20's, but I think 30 fps should be playable for most games, except very fast paced ones (csgo) that should have 60 and up.
We perceive things to be fluid at 18 FPS, but that means the picture is blurry. But to perceive things as fluid, crisp and sharp you're looking at 50FPS. So it depends which game you're playing. If you're playing an action game definitely 50 FPS +, but if you're playing LoL or something 18+ is fine.
Go back 15 years or so and 30 was the standard frame for things to be smooth, now I like to have 60 and if I see a drop to like 40 it's very noticeable. So I shoot for 60 across the board unless it's like a online shooter then you want the highest as humanly possible.
I honestly think that on a 144 hz monitor I stop being able to tell at around 75 fps. So I would say a 75 Hz refresh rate w/ gsync at 75 fps is perfect. I know for a fact there is a huge difference in smoothness to me between 60-75, but that's the pc master race in me talking. I however will stop playing a game on the pc if it drops below 40. Anything below 40 is unacceptable to me.
<40 fps for me is unplayable. I know some people that will play games with fps dropping down to <20 but i just can't do it to myself :/. 144hz and >144fps = win
What? You peasants. 240hz or bust. Lol, seriously though. Someone needs to do a study and find out the maximum fps rate a screen can have before the human eye cannot distinguish between frames anymore, or at least a point of diminishing returns. Kind of like Retina, but for frames instead of pixels.
It totally depends on the blurring effect If you have blurring effect on then you need a minimum 18fps for the image transition to look fluid but if there is no motion blur then a minimum of 24fps is needed to make things look smooth. I find 60fps the smoothest and anything above that is a waste of money and resource because you need a sharp eye to notice the difference even though your eyes can see up to 1000fps technically. 25 is what I find a playable fps and 60 is the required fps for smooth gaming. This was the first 240Hz monitor and was released in 2013
I don't think I'd be able to play LoL at anything lower than 60 fps. Whenever my frames drop below 60 I can easily notice the difference. I remembered I used to be really bad at LoL when I had my old computer and I was playing with 25 fps idle and <10 fps during teamfights. Now I'm getting consistent 60+ fps and my I have improve tremendously. Still really bad though. Just not as bad.
This is the mind set I like to see from people. I go to bed early and cry whenever I hear someone call 60 fps unplayable.
