1 personalised code to insiders who have been active within a certain time frame and have the sale of categories over different days to save the site going down is a possible solution

It's so sudden, I prefer to make a simple method, cuz who would of thought this whole excluding certain people and stuff will happen. Maybe for the fans who owns a product and uses the programs, but idk really, hopefully it's not too complicated that make people lose hope for the sale.

Yeah, Its kind of a hard decision. Razer could open the sale to everyone but then people who never voted and are fans of Razer could easily sell stuff out, And it seems like Min and the team really want to deliver this sale to Fans of Razer, Not just people who will jump on a good deal. I know I might buy the Ornata Chroma if it is still in stock.

I'm trying to get a Stealth Keyboard, but I can't really find the specific name on their site. They use to have it, besides the Stealth Ultimate since thats pretty expensive even with the 50% off and sale tax, which is probably around 130 ish, I would like a Stealth Chroma keyboard since my COD Black Ops one is too loud which wakes my mom up a lot, however I just can't find the option for it. Hopefully, the exclusion won't be as complicated as I'm putting some hope into getting a new stealth keyboard which I'm taking forever to find. I tried to see if there were options through the mechanical clicky ones, but doesn't seem like I can find it.

Blackwidow Stealth or Blackwidow X Stealth? Those are the only other keyboards Razer currently makes other then the Ultimate Stealth that have Stealth Keys (Or Razer Orange Keys.). The Ornata could be a option for you too, Since it is a little more quite then the Blackwidow. They still have a louder noise though.

I think it would be fair if in order to get a purchase code for 1 or 2 items you have to post a picture of a razer product with an account that was created before the sale started
(so no one creates fake accounts). Maybe you need to add something unique to the picture like name tag of your razer inside account or something. But maybe this is too much effort.:big_grin_: Easier would be to check out all razer synapse accounts like mentioned above but that would leave PS4 users etc out.

Do people actually script bots to rig the sales?
  8. Jenjar

    Jenjar Well-Known Member VANGUARD

Yeah, The idea with the pictures is a good idea but I think it would be a bit of a mess, And it would take too long and a ton of work for the Staff around here. The idea with the Synapse also would forget PS4 users, XBox users, Or people who just buy Razer merch and stuff like that.
People may try to do that, But i do not think it would work out. Depending on the system they use this year, If they do something with synapse it will detect bots or spammers and most likely ban or terminate the accounts.

Active synapse or insider accounts. Why would you incentivize non-razer fans?

I agree that something like this is going to be the best option. I just have one complaint.. I haven't purchased new razer gear in a while and my mouse and keyboard aren't compatible with Razer Synapse :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Man, if they really are going to be doing a 50% off sale to long term supporters, perhaps I shouldnt have just splurged at christmas and completed my setup XD.

I mean, a free firefly in the rewards would be fine by me XD.

I got the deathstalker chroma, the ornata chroma, the razer blade 2016 v1, the mamba wireless, the krakens, the kraken pro usb, and the razer tapian. Theres probably a few other products too, but I think I qualify as a fan XD.

I agree, I just hope for the 30% off for the system so I can pick one up and be able to soften the blow on the bank account. However with the current discount problems I'm not sure they'll even have the systems sale now.

I agree on excluding non razer fan on the sale but I disagree on excluding inactive insider account or non poster. I have 6 razer products atm and looking forward to adding up more to my collection. It would very disappointing if I would not be able atleast get a code to buy something from the sale.

I think it is a good idea to limit it to active users, either that is synapse of here on the insider forms.

I have no clue what would be the best way to go about this. All I know is that it wouldn't be fair to disallow people because they aren't on the forums or something. Or have few posts. Or haven't been active for very long.
I just joined the forums in December and Synapse at the end of November. I'd be very upset if I couldn't participate in the sale because of that. I think this would be a good idea:
Post a picture with a Razer product you own and maybe something else added to it. Whether it's posted here on the forums or on social media with a specific hashtag or something. That kind of thing is done all the time. It wouldn't be too difficult really.

I honestly don't really care about the multi-screen thing. I don't use them on my main desktop PC either. I just keep my laptop on one side of me for anything I'd want to look at on another screen. If I'm super desperate for something else, then I'll reach for my 10.5in tablet and use that, but it's happened maybe twice in the past two years?

I was considering the same thing, to be honest. I've been dying to get my hands on one of those keyboards to compare it to the others I've owned and used.

Sadly, yes. The past few Razer sales have hammered their websites with some people/bots who then turn around and sell the cheap items on E-Bay or whatever. They do it just so they can make money off the sale.

See, the past sales were such a cluster that people would spend hours trying to even load the Razer website and then when they finally did the items they wanted were already gone and sold out. (since Razer doesn't plan on winning CES each year they only have their usual stock during the sale - it goes quickly) Each year there have been many angry people, who then come here to Insider and complain about unfair and terrible the sale was. Here Razer is just trying to do something nice for their fans by giving a huge discount, and they get railed on by the people who don't get what they wanted. It's very disappointing to watch.

Lots of ideas that benefit the people posting, of course, but does that mean that they benefit true Razer fans? I've only drunk the kool-aid 8 months ago, and only had my first Razer product for just over a year, so although I'm a new fan, and a devout fan, I don't know that I'd qualify for the title of true fan, although being new to Razer doesn't DISqualify me . . . so what would need to be established is the definition of a true Razer fan. The true Razer fan is who should get the most benefit from the CES sales.

So what makes a true Razer fan? Let's go over some ideas.

    1) Somebody who has owned Razer products for a long time? Maybe, but then again maybe not. Perhaps they bought a single Razer product years ago, and has been using and loving that product for that whole time, but haven't purchased anything else by Razer since. Maybe they have one old Razer mouse, but a newer MSI laptop, newer Ducky KB, and a Logitech headset. I wouldn't call this a TRUE Razer fan. Now, if they bought a Razer product a long time ago, and since then has bought multiple Razer products, and ONLY Razer products, then we should be able to agree that this is a TRUE Razer fan. How does Razer tell the difference? Registration over the years. It could be done . . .

    2) Somebody who has a high post count on Insider? We know that this is not the mark of a true Razer fan, as some people post a lot to reap the benefit of Insider Rewards, so this is clearly not the way to go. Then again, people who say that they don't have time to post on Insider, but have been Insider members for years . . . well, that doesn't really even fit the IDEA of a true fan, does it? "I'm a real fan, but I don't have time to be a part of the Razer community." Kind of self-negating.

**This is a long post, so my idea is here in the middle, just in case Razer likes it and decides to do something similar. If people think that it looks TL;DR (am I using that right?), then they won't know the concept - if it were to happen, these people won't be able to cheat it.

Send out e-mails to people on Insider (and are you a TRUE fan if you're not on Insider?). E-mail takes you to a site with validation of current Insider membership and multiple questions. First question: Number one item you want to buy (with dropdown for all current products). Second question: what is the smallest discount you will accept and pay for this item? Dropdown has 0% (the diehards will buy at no discount), 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%. Third question is what 2nd item they would buy. This goes through an automated system that separates the items and discount amounts.

The fun part: the people who have chosen "no discount" are the people who are actually willing to pay full price for awesome Razer gear. These people either get personalized codes to a special early-bird sale with a discount on what they chose; or codes for 30% off their first item, and 50% off their second item, with access to the normal CES 2017 Appreciation Sale from the start. The people who have chosen 10% get personalized codes for 30% off item 1 and 40% the second item, but only have access from 30 minutes into the sale. Those who chose 20% off get codes for 20% off item 1 and 30% off item 2, but only have access from 1 hour into the sale, and so on and so forth.

The point being that TRUE fans don't need to wait for a sale and would be willing to purchase the item full-price, and get rewarded for their fandom. The 10%ers are still fans, and get a better discount than what they choose, but have to wait until the people who are willing to pay full price get what they want, with the chance that it will be out of stock 20 minutes into the sale. Those who said they would only buy at 50% get codes for 50% off item 1, but only 10% off item 2, and they must wait until all the 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%ers have had their pick - 2 1/2 hours after the sale goes online. TRUE fans get the best chance to score their beloved Razer gear at a discount.

Ok, this post might seem weird from here, but it's just because of the idea in the middle game.**

    3) Somebody who has a complete Razer setup, and a collection of Razer gear that they don't even use - just collect. Now we're getting somewhere. There is no denying that somebody who owns multiple Razer keyboards from the same year, multiple mice, even systems: this is a true Razer fan. This person is most likely to have watched or even attended anything that @Min-Liang Tan has done live, and cried to see a Razer CES win. Maybe a Razer logo tattooed on their body somewhere. TRUE Razer fan. Maybe a little obsessed, but what true fan isn't?

So what sets the TRUE Razer fan apart? Spending. Willingness to spend on Razer. Willingness to buy even when there's no discount, because they love the brand. Not ONLY buying when there's a sale, but when there's something that they think is so awesome that they're willing to save and pay top dollar for it. The people who say, "I really want that new keyboard, and the Insider Rewards aren't available right now, so I won't get any freebies or discounts with it, but I just have to have it! I need to have Razer even more on display!", these are the TRUE fans to me.

And of course, those people who have volunteered their time to be community developers and moderators for Razer Insider. These folks MUST be TRUE fans.

And @kajira, is your new avatar a wish for a new Mercy skin? ;)

I've been a Razer fan for several years now. I truly hope they don't gate it behind a post minimum, as people will begin spamming the forums just to get their post count up (some probably doing so now in case this actually happens). Also, that would put most lurkers (such as myself) in a rough position not able to purchase anything. Account age is probably the best solution IMO.
