I'm also still waiting for either Google Fiber or the Cox Gigablast to be in my area. It's other places in the state, just not quite in my neighborhood yet.

My speed test currently says the following:

edit: I did this via my wireless on my laptop upstairs in my bedroom, not on my wired connection with my desktop PC in the office.

I've got Comcast, and I really can't tell why so many ppl complain about their internet.
    Mine is pretty reliable

i have comcast, it's either real good or real bad. last night it dropped to 1mbps download and 0.1 upload with over 500ms ping. which isnt too bad considering i'm paying for 150mbps download. oh wait

  11. mine is pretty good, i have at&t and its giving me good ping; less than 100 or even 50

I sort of heard rumors that google fiber would stop distributing their fiber service soon though.

I am sort of luck enough to live somewhere else in which fiber ain't a bit deal.

I'm getting less than 13 Mbps and is suppose to get 20 Mbps.... is it because I don't have a router but just have a modem? Should I get a router? If so then can you guys recommend a cheap router I can buy?

Only got fibre access in my area a few years ago. The UK is really behind on internet infrastructure. So many rural areas still have no fibre.

It actually depends on what type your modem is, but usually even if you get a router, the speed difference is not really noticeable at all. Because, if you are using wifi, there will definitely be a drop in speed regardless of the router you use. And furthermore, it is rare to find a cheap router with significant speed boost.

What I would recommend is getting a lan cable, as its much cheaper and faster than getting a router.

Well, I got Shaw Internet 150 now instead of Internet 60. DL is 150 UL is about 15. Pretty happy with it, considering, at least for now, it is cheaper than before (due to a promotion, plus cutting down on phone/tv) Now for downloading, things often only take a minute or less, which is nice, and uploading videos takes SO much less time now! No more waiting up to an hour for a single video! Thank God!

Though, of course, I'd love to have even higher speeds! (Not that there is really any need for it... it'd just be cool)

This is what you get with NBN (National Broadband Network). What a joke.
