Yes it is. How high was the cores temperature during the test?
Btw can you give me a favor to show size difference between it and Blade 14 from above, I’ve Armor case 14 and curious if it could fit Blade 15, so i don’t need to sell it if I sell my Blade 14 for 15.

I am really interested in this laptop, its only the CPU thermals that worry me. I will wait more reactions from other buyers to see if this will be the temps Razer planned or it is faulty pasting of some units.

So in the firestrike tests the core reached 87c. Little too short of a test to give it a chance to climb into 90s and up like in gaming. XTU keeps showing power limit throttling and clearly others aren't seeing that.

I'll take pics of size comparison when I get home!

Yes I saw that score... if I bumped up my memory OC more I would have at least matched the graphics score although we were very close. My new unit should be shipping out either tomorrow or tues.

So you also RMA'ed your blade?

Did you also test the cpu temperature on 99% max processors state?

How's the sound quality on the speakers?
Also, how is loud do the fans get under load? Is it quieter than the old blade design?

Yep my CPU has some issues.. not just thermals but lots of power limit throttling.

Didn't even bother... I disabled turbo boost just to see where temps were at and they settled in the high 70s. I messed with a ton of settings in XTU and Throttlestop to see if I could at least get it to stop power throttling but it just wasn't having it.

It is definitely quieter than the Blade 14 it's very noticeable. The speakers sound about the same as they did on the 14 nothing special there. I wish they did the THX certified ones like on the pro but not a deal breaker.
  13. I'm measuring the same DB readings (~46) on the new blade as the '17 model. Unfortunately the new one still has the infamous 'Blade whine' instead of a pleasant whooshing sound like the GS65. Also, the GS65 was no more than 45db under the same gaming conditions. There are Pros and Cons to each. I'm still evaluating.

    This is disappointing news truly...

I mean this out of love, but if you want a thin/light/powerful laptop for gaming... noise should be your last concern.

I know. I was just hopeful things got better. I have a 2014 blade myself.

Well, after doing more test, and after contacting support, my blade 15 will also go RMA. Same as @Firebat246 I played battlefield 1 and Far Cry 5 and my cpu was reaching 100C under 5 mins of play at default voltage and clock speeds in both games. Also tried undervolting cpu at -0.145mv, same issue. :slightly_sad:

Hitting 100C after 5 mins of gaming at default gpu/cpu voltage and clock speed.
Hitting 100C after 8 mins of gaming at -0.145mv, +185 gpu core, + 600 gpu mem. (little gpu overcloak)
Hitting 100C after 10 mins of gaming at -0.145mv, +100 gpu core, +300 gpu mem (blade gpu default clock speed)

The gpu temp are fine, even overcloaked, it never go over 80C. It's another story for the CPU, any settings I try, it reach the cpu die limit at 100C.

Did you monitor cpu clock speed? We're you getting power limit throttled or just thermal? What frequency were you sitting at or fluctuating around?

Yep, power limit is throttling a lot via XTU monitoring.

Did you try limiting processors state? change from 100 to 99%, maybe it’ll help.
