I reserved my Windows 10 about a week before it was released to the public (due to something blocking my notification to pop up) but I have yet to get the download and install option. The manual install also bugs out after "downloading" Windows 10 so I can't force it either. Am I alone here?

I helped more than 10 of my friends to upgrade to Windows 10 and never meet the problem you are facing. Do you mind to get some screenshot to show here?

You literally have to force it over and over until it initiates the download. Spam the cmd commands while initiating the updates queque. It took me almost 2 hours straight to force it on release day but it was well worth the pain.

You can just download it from microsoft page to upgrade it you know? You dont know to wait for the notification to appear. I download it directly via microsoft page and upgraded just 1 2 days after release. Have you try downloading from a friend's computer, the setup file, then put it on a usb and run it?

Hi, try to delete all Files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (maybe you need to deactivate the Windows Update Service, after that you need to delete the $Windows.~BT folder (manually) or with the system cleanup (click right on your c partition and select properties, cleanup. The entry that deletes the old files are in most cases the last one in the list. After the folder is gone, restart your pc and start the Windows Update service.

The last step is to run a cmd as admin and type the following command: wuauclt.exe /updatenow then you should see the Windows Update window that Windows 10 is downloaded again, after that the installation should work as expected.

If the procedure doesn't work, you can start the update as already mentioned by ISO.

I just went to windows update, like the place where you go to install new drivers, and it downloaded from there.

Why would you want to upgrade to Windows 10? I immediately revert back to Win 7 from control panel after the upgrade finish. The main reasons are slow performance / laggy, keyboard not functioning at all, wifi show connected but no internet access.

^ windows 10 is fine, honestly its not that bad at all.

smooth as silk, and even runs less RAM and CPU. i also get ever so slightly lower temps due to all of this....

    hardware upgrade?

Not sure if it's the hardware. My laptop is windows 7, specs of 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Nvidia GT555M 2GB, Intel i7 2.2GHz. In other words, I don't really think it is the hardware problem. I have seen my friend's upgrade too, it is very laggy as well while having much latest hardware.

If you upgrade saving all apps and files your 10 will be slow. I used the option to save only my personal files and its super fast. You can also use the reset option to make it fast again.

You mean I should do a backup of all my important files and documents in prior to the upgrade? And right after the upgrade do a hard reset for the window? Does this cure the problem? Because if I do this, I will need to reinstall all my software, application and games (particularly Steam).

Yes, you will have to reinstall all applications, games and software but it is worth the effort because Windows 10 is almost twice as fast as 8 and not to forget the advantages of DirectX12.

You can just go to windows website or search "download windows 10" in google, and you can download the installer directly from there
