Hmm... weren't you one of those poor souls who got the 2016 "NEW" Razer Blade with a 970M in it a month or so before the version with the 1060 was announced? If so, I'm not entirely convinced I fully trust your estimates. (-;
The next 14" Blade worth getting hot and bothered about will be the refresh that contains the GTX 1160. There is no way this is happening in 2017. I'll be keeping my 1060 Blade at least until the next GPU refresh. Not since the old Core Duo have I upgraded a laptop due to a CPU refresh. These days the improvements made to modern CPUs generation to generation are not nearly as major. The 6700HQ will be more than adequate for awhile. GPU refreshes, now those are exciting and worth upgrading for.
In the past Razer has been a yearly refresh kind of company. It took them forever to upgrade the 4702hq to the 6700hq cpu. When they upgraded to the 1060 from the 970m so quickly I was actually surprised. So maybe they will be upgrading the CPU's soon. But, if you're waiting for the kaby lake 7700 hq because you think it's going to be game changing in some way then you better off just getting a razer blade 14 with a 6700hq. The difference between Kaby Lake and Sky Lake is laughable. The one reason to wait for the 7700HQ is if you watch netflix in 4K. A Kaby Lake Cpu is required. Other than that. . .
I heard the Kaby Lake will save a ton of battery when it comes to playing videos. And I'm talking saving hours of battery life. According to a chart I saw somewhere regarding the Stealth / Dell 13 6th gen vs 7th gen Kaby. So if you travel a lot and watch movies on the go, then it's worth the wait for an upgrade to Kaby Lake? Correct me If I am wrong, please. Because I need to make a decision already. Thanks,
Hardware decoding of h264 & h265, so it should save some energy when playing back videos, I think its worth waiting a few weeks, I have my money waiting. I had the early 2015 edition for oveer a year and it worked fine, sold it to get a mac but regret making that move. How's the QC on the 14" 1060 these days? anyone care to mention ?
Where is that one angry dude who was so "sure" they weren't going to update the Razer Blade any time soon? You probably steered a couple people in the wrong direction. https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/the-new-razer-blade-7th-gen-intel-i7.20313/ Just an FYI for the others interested. Thanks,
Glad I got my 1060 when I did. Looks like Razer raised the price $100. The FHD 1TB model I bought was $2399 now sells for $2499. I also nabbed a 10% discount using microsoft store student discount and 2% cash back from ebates. The new model from Razer would have cost me $362 before cash back. Not worth it for Kaby Lake. Maybe Razer is thinking people will be more likely to buy the Razer Core at $100 off not realizing that the new blade is $100 more.
