Keyboards and switch usb

Hello everyone,

I apologise in advance for my writing, I use a translator ^^.
I now own an ultimate blackwidow from 2013 and an imperator mouse from 2012 which still work very well.

I do a lot of telecommuting so I unplug and replug, keyboard/smile, on my professional and personal PCs.

I recently bought a usb switch but the keyboard was not recognized, it turned on and off right away because it seems to me that it requires more power to work.
I plugged the usb switch on the power but I think the hardware is not of good quality as it hasn't changed anything.
The mouse, on the other hand, worked perfectly.

Would you have a USB switch for a mechanical keyboard to recommend?

I thank you for it

Hey new Insider,

You are not wrong~~
There are some active threads, where Insiders and non-members have issues connecting their RAZER peripherals to a USB Multi hub / switch.

I connect 3 RAZER peripherals to a single USB 2.0 Multi hub. I encounter rare occasions where my RAZER peripherals disconnect without any reason. It just happens.

Temporary fix is to just unplug and re-plug the USB hub, permanent fix is to connect each RAZER peripherals to its own USB port on the PC.

RAZER continue to focus on hyperspeed wireless like BW V3 Pro, so that RAZER peripherals all work by connecting to a single wireless USB dongle / adapter.
Thank you very much for the feedback.
What is the reference of your usb communicator?

Ah yes, not bad this wireless keyboard : )

Thanks again

Well my USB hub is something that I had for almost 15 years.

It just says
USB 2.0 High Speed
Ultra Mini 4-Port Hub

No specific manufacturer name, S/N faded

I have not encountered any disconnection for last 2 weeks

Just noticed I have 4 RAZER peripherals connected

BlackWidow Stealth 2014
Basilisk Ultimate (Wireless mouse dock)
Goliathus Extended Chroma
Kraken Tournament Edition
I allow myself to abuse a little bit, Would you have the link of the product ^^ ?
I bought some and even fed it nothing did : /

Thanks

Like I said, 15 year old tech
ok thanks, but you only have one way out?
Mine has two exits for two different PCs.

I'm not a RAZER electronics specialist

But I am thinking, the RAZER peripherals work via constant back and forward link with Synapse. The USB multi hub becomes a bottleneck, that sometimes it cannot handle all the back and forward sets of instructions, causing the RAZER peripherals to disfunction, or disconnect from the Synapse.

Like for example, the USB multi hub should only be used for connecting basic PC peripherals (non-high tech), and not for transferring large batch of files. Because the USB output from PC is trying to handle 3 - 4 data transfers at the same time, it will face a bottleneck, which eventually cause the data transfer to crash in the process.

But so far, my USB 2.0 hub have not caused too much hassle on my RAZER peripherals. Lucky me I guess.
Great, thanks again for your help 😉

Okay so today, I faced a severe dysfunction on my USB 2.0 Multi hub

Symptoms~~

  • Mouse pointer was not moving
  • Keyboard keys were not working

Now I want to test by connecting the following three peripherals

  • Kiyo
  • Goliathus Extended Chroma
  • Kraken TE

These peripherals are not used for controlling my computer, connected mouse and keyboard to individual USB ports.

usb hub 3.0 is doing more better smooth expirience. with 2.0 sometimes when ur system running a lot of background it wont detect the device feels like on and off.

I wish I can agree with you, we all know USB 3.0 has faster R&W speed performance than USB 2.0
I have a 4 way USB 3.0 Multi hub that is doing a worst job compared to my USB 2.0 Multi hub.

I don't understand~~~

Many Insiders are looking for Multi USB Hub solutions, some do get lucky and some are still searching and wondering.

Which is why I'm focusing on the Hyperspeed wireless hub technology

Okay so it has been two weeks since my last update!
By connecting 3 non-control RAZER peripherals to my USB 2.0 Multi hub, I have not experienced any drops in connectivity or dysfunction between my peripherals and Synapse.

Even when I use my Kiyo and Kraken TE for sound and mic through webchat, not a single fluctuant.

My control peripherals (mouse and keyboard) continues to work without a hiccup.
Well once my Basilisk ULT enters idle mode, it does take less than a second to start responding, but that is good enough for me.

My 15 year old High Speed USB 2.0 Multi hub is good
Hyperspeed wireless technology review on its way soon or later~~~

that is exactly what i did, i connect my headset, mice and keyboard to mainboard, and connect the rest through USB hub. i havent counter any issue so far, only sometimes when bacground running a lots of program at the same time, the mouse stop for a sec

Hey Insiders

So from my last update on 20210126; I noticed today, all my RAZER peripherals have lost connectivity with Synapse 3.0 (the ones connected to the USB 2.0 multi hub)

I tried restarting the Synapse, which did not fix the issue
The fix was to unplug and re-plug the USB 2.0 multi hub

It has been just little less of 31 days since my peripherals connected to a USB 2.0 multi hub caused an issue of dysconnectivity from Synapse 3.0.

Whether I want to go with the multi hub option which @-Mr.Nobody- have suggested is a question. But I love my RAZER peripherals so I think I'm gonna be alright with my current setup, until I have collected enough silver to move onto Hyperspeed technology.

Hey Insiders

I have upgraded my motherboard from Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X to Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra.
The Aorus Ultra comes with USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2 ports

I'll be testing my USB 2.0 Multi hub with the following peripherals connected and give you an update once per month or times when I encounter a fault.

  • Kiyo V1
  • Kraken TE
  • Goliathus Extended Chroma

  • USB powered desk fan

This will probably be my last update.
So I have not noticed any dysconnectivity on my RAZER peripherals, but I now have noticed that my Kraken TE one side ear sounds dimmer.

But by plugging the Kraken TE to its own USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, it sounds better.

So now, I have connected the following peripherals to my muti USB 2.0 hub~~~

  • Kiyo V1
  • Goliathus Extended Chroma

  • USB powered desk fan

I have not noticed any degraded mic recording performance and purpose of Goliathus Extended Chroma is to power the RGB strip.

Whether there is a multi USB hub that makes all peripherals run normal~~~??

Forgot to test my USB 3.1 Gen 2 Port
After plugging the followings to my multi USB 2.0 hub~~~

  • Kiyo V1
  • Kraken TE
  • Goliathus Extended Chroma

  • USB powered desk fan

My Kraken TE sounds better~~~
THX spatial sound also works well on CS:GO
I don't know how motherboard manufacturers design better USB ports, but I'm sure it has to do with following factors (maybe more)

  • Bandwidth (speed)
  • Flow of electrical current

Since USB 3.1 Gen 2 Port is the best USB port on my motherboard, I have to conclude that is why my Kraken TE works better.

Conclusion, better the USB port is (speed and electrical current) your peripherals on the multi USB hub works just as you expect. But I do believe the performance on RAZER peripherals do get degraded or dysfunctional if you plug in too many to the hub.

Safe number: 2 - 3 peripheral.

In all my previous posts, I have thoroughly analyzed the following ports using my USB 2.0 multi hub

  • USB 2.0 (Black Port)
  • USB 3.0 (Blue Port)
  • USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Red Port)

My investigation and analysis continue with USB Yellow Port

So yesterday I have plugged in my RAZER BW Stealth 2014 to my multi hub (replacing the USB powered desk fan)

So the followings are connected to the multi hub

  • Kiyo V1
  • Kraken TE
  • Goliathus Extended Chroma

  • RAZER BW Stealth 2014

I spent almost entire day playing games and in front of the computer, for any signs of RAZER peripheral dysconnectivity or dysfunctionality. Nothing to report.

I will continue investigate further and give weekly or monthly or any updates.

Update: Audio fluctuate
I am also a musician; my ears are very sensitive, I can hear almost everything, even to the annoying mosquito buzzing.
My Kraken TE tried to fool me when the audio fluctuated between THX Spatial and Normal audio.

Once again this could be because of the whole data bottleneck.

As multi hub is trying to handle heavy burden of keyboard key presses, AV on camera and goliathus chroma lighting; it looks like it was not able to maintain the THX Spatial Audio and switched to normal audio

Carried on playing CS:GO after removing the Keyboard and plugging to its USB 2.0; audio did not fluctuate.

Current devices on my usb 2.0 multi hub

  • Kiyo V1
  • Kraken TE
  • Goliathus Extended Chroma

So it is clear that the best method is to plug each high-tech gaming peripherals to its individual USB ports.

For me I use in total of 9 - 10 USB components, but because laptops are lack of USB ports, laptop users need a USB multi hub.

There is still no indication of which USB multi hub is the best. Factors from~~~

  • USB 2.0 (Black)
  • USB 3.0 (Blue)

  • USB 3.1 (Yellow, Red)
  • All combined
  • Runs via external power source or not

Also when running peripherals on multi hub, we can assume there will be some point that the devices and its features will dysfunction. Temporary fix is to reset the multi hub.

I have upgraded my motherboard, it still show that somethings just do not work 100%, maybe due to the reasons I have mentioned.

Let us face the facts; we are using our devices on Windows and other user interface OSs. How the OS handle the traffic of data through ports, motherboard, CPU is difficult to understand. This is something which individuals like us do not have control of. Unless you design your PC rig from scratch in which you have full control of. Just like Bill Gates and Steve Wozniak did.

Also when OS and hardware developer release new updates from drivers to user interfaces. Whether the updates will play a significant role of "improvement" is uncertain. Once again this is something which individuals like us do not have control of. Unless you design the software from scratch that literally works the way you want it to.

If RAZER can focus on their HyperSpeed wireless technology, then we can free up few USBs and possibly make the usb multi hubs redundant. Then again whether HyperSpeed wireless tech will face data bottlenecks and peripheral dysfunctions is something which RAZER must consider as a priority.

In the end, it is just up to all of us to try things out by experimenting what works and what does not. Whether we can tolerate minor faults, simple troubleshooting ways and other alternatives.
