Linux (or at least Ubuntu) has a rather nifty utility called fwupdmgr that allows BIOS updates to be pushed over the internet and then flashed by the system.

This project appears to be open-source and has a hardware manufacturer's portal on their website which allows manufacturers to upload firmware. I am currently aware of a few manufacturers using this system (Dell being one of them).

Would it be possible for Razer to start integrating this into their BIOS release flow so users don't need to keep Windows around?

It appears as though fwupdmgr in its current state detects the Razer subsystem:

      Provider: UEFI
      Flags: internal|allow-offline|require-ac

  2. That would indeed be really interesting.
