Loving the Razer Kraken!

The Razer Kraken headphones are really comfortable and sound great! The microphone quality is a lot better and sounds much clearer.
The long cable going from the headphones to my PC allow me to move about freely with no restraint.

The only concern i have is that the Surround 7.1 software doesn't seem to work; i looked this up on Google and it's apparently Microsoft's fault because they updated their audio settings.

My sister got them a few days ago but the mic is super quiet and when we turn the boost up there is a ton of static on the receiving end. We might have gotten a defective one but she threw away the box so idk if we'll be able to send it back. Any advice?
