Lumbar support lever broken?

I bought a Razer Iskur XL gaming chair from Amazon.com and put it together. No real problem, except that the instructions were pathetic and the lumbar support lever didn't - doesn't - seem to do anything at all. It won't even move.

But I did a google search and watched the YouTube video on how to adjust it. Unfortunately, that didn't work, either. I removed the lever from the bracket and tried to unscrew it (supposedly, in order to leave 5-7 mm of the bolt inside). But I can do that all day long without changing how much of the bolt is inside the lever. That simply doesn't work.

The only thing that happened was that the lumbar support on the chair lifted up a whole bunch! And I still can't move that lever, one way or another.

So, I've got a chair with the lumbar support pushed out at maximum. Now, if I sit in the chair and lean back on it, it will depress again - but only while I'm pushing against it. As soon as I lean forward, it pushes out again. And this is not comfortable.

So what can I do about this? I'm going in for surgery soon. (I bought the chair as an early Xmas gift for myself, when I was diagnosed with cancer.) After the surgery, I'm going to be limited on what I can do here. So I'd really like to get this fixed ASAP.

Thanks.
