MacOS Catalina (10.15.2)

Hi all,

I have an iMac running on Catalina (10.15.2)
I cannot get Synapse 2 to work.... it keeps asking me to allow System Software from Razer:
"Allow System software from Razer USA Ltd."
But in System Settings, no option appears to enable.

What to do?

regards,
FedeFede

Hi everyone! Thanks for posting your concern here. Synapse 2.0 for Mac is available up to Mac OS 10.14. Moving forward, all new products will be supported exclusively on Synapse 3 for Windows. Should you have any feedback or suggestion, please use the Razer Synapse "Feedback" section so our developers can receive your message directly.

Thank you for the reply.
I note the "exclusively" .. "for Windows" part.
So, to be clear. MacOS is no longer supported by Razer?

Hey there! Razer will still support devices that are compatible with macOS. Please keep in mind that you can only install Razer Synapse 2.0 in Mac OS. As mentioned above, new products will be supported on Synapse 3.0 only. I recommend sending feedback via the Razer Synapse "Feedback" so our developers can receive your message directly.

I think my point is, that the prior posts state that Synapse 2.0 will not be supported on the latest major version of macOS (Catalina), and Synapse 3.0 will ONLY be supported on Windows. I doubt anyone is downgrading to Mojave (10.14) just to configure some buttons or lights on a mouse. So, essentially, Synapse (in either version) is not supported anymore on Macs/MacBooks. And, so, any devices that require Synapse for configuration (especially any "new products") will not / may not be fully usable on Mac without being able to use Synapse to configure it.

It doesn't matter a lot to me, but I think this point should be clear to avoid confusion with users because this question will come up again. Again, thanks for the clarification, I just want anyone else searching on this question to be able to find a clear answer. I'll send feedback to ask for Synapse 2.0 compatibility with MacOS 10.15 (Catalina).

[Edit]... LOL... I can't submit feedback within Synapse because it no longer works on this MacBook I use at work.... I'll do so from within my Windows machine at home :)

Thanks!
So just to be cleared: all new products will not be supported on Mac anymore? Seriously?

Hey there! Thanks for asking. This is our software state at the moment. And of course, Razer will improve Razer Synapse 3.0 until it reaches the final state. Also, we continually add support to legacy devices and gather feedback from the community. By the way, you can send us feedback by clicking this link so we can continuously improve our products and services. Feel free to send me a PM should you need additional assistance.

The thing is (and that is my opinion) that Razer started way back to stop supporting Mac platform: first thing I noticed was lack of mac layout (keyboards), I remember days when I could buy razer keyboard with mac layout.
Next was buggier and buggier Razer Synapse (which is now not supported on 10.15).

What is strange to me is that this big, recognisable company with excellent products just decides to support only windows OS. It is like you're "punished" to use something else instead of Windows OS.

I know that it takes a lot of sources and man power to support different OS but I think that you should recognise that there is also Mac/linux gaming community that would like to use your products with appropriate OS support.

I just ordered and received an Orbweaver Chroma... Which I understood is compatible with macOS... Running 10.15.2 and apparently now I'm being punished for macOS.. Was just about to pick up a Core eGPU but I'll have to send the Orbweaver back (which wasn't cheap) and look elsewhere for future peripherals...

The thing is I couldn't find any info that it supports MacOS (there is only info that it requires Synapse 3 which of course doesn't support MacOS). They hid that well...
