My wishlist for the next Razer Blade 17 refresh

Hello Razer. I just thought I would create a thread post stating what I would like to see on the next Razer Blade 17. First of all I think Razer is heading in the right direction with the current 2022 Blade 17. I am glad they gave the 17 inch model 8 speakers now and increased the battery capacity to 82 watt hour. I think Razer should remove the single auxiliary fan on the 17 inch and provide us a 95-100 watt hour battery and they should bring back a glossy screen option. I own the 2021 Blade Advanced with the OLED display and I think the 2022 models have a display downgrade. I would love to see Razer build either a 17 inch OLED or a Mini LED 240 HZ glossy option. I really love the 17 inch Blade but there are only small factors that stop me from buying one. Another small thing I would like to see changed on the next 17 inch is the speaker hole gaps. I appreciate how Razer laser cut holes in the chassis now but the left and right side of the Blade 17 still has empty gaps. Apple drills fake holes to keep symmetry and I would love it if Razer did the same. I used to own the 2006 Macbook Pro 17 inch and I feel like it still has better build quality than the current Blade 17.

This is the speaker grille section for an XPS 17. Notice how there is no gap on the left and the right side?

Now this is the current 2022 Blade 17. You see how there is a gap on the left and right side of the speaker holes? This small visual difference makes the premium 17 inch laptop look cheap and not worth the price.

There is another small feature I do not like on the current Blade 17 laptop and that is the hinge vent. I don't like how far out the screen extends from the body, you can see the table it is resting on from the hinge area and that looks really weird. I know that is done for cooling but this is a 17 inch laptop so it already cools better than the 15. Razer should reduce the size of the 17 inch slightly and use Conductonaut on the CPU and GPU to pick up the slack.. The cheaper 15 inch Blade looks premium and the 17 does not because of the hinge gap and the speaker gaps.

On the 15 inch Blade Advanced, the hinge vents are tucked in.

So to summarize what features I recommend for the next Blade 17 is simple. I would like a bigger battery than 82 watt hours since this is a 17 inch, ideally 100 watt hours. Razer can remove the fan that is in the middle of the battery since it is not necessary. The next thing is a better display, the current matte screen offerings are not nice compared to OLED. I would like to see a revised hinge assembly that looks just like the 15 inch model without the hinge vent gap. The most simple change out of this list is drilling fake speaker holes so the speaker section no longer has a gap.

Please take my suggestions seriously. I love Razer and I think they make the best PC laptops right now and I think their build quality is amazing for a PC but just a little behind the elegance of a Macbook Pro. Razer could easily be the best in the business with a few changes to make their laptops more premium. I just think they need small changes for the price we pay.

I just want they put ryzen cpu option on bigger blade not only blade 14, current issue with intel is heat and less power efficient chip, putting this on bigger blade will give better battery life, and put max 100 wh battery it’ll be mind blowing long battery life for a gaming laptop which is usually bad.
For screen mini led atm is 120Hz and oled is 90Hz it’ll take a while probably to reach 240Hz. But personally I more like glossy screen on Oled or touchscreen blade laptops it looks more premium, so loosing that glossy option on current model blade 14/15/17 I’m kind disappointed. I like more my book13 screen even on FHD than matte QHD on blade 14 2021, looks more expensive even it’s almost half price. Yes I know looks is a matter to me, just like on my hobby soccer, first style skills come later:big_grin_:
Yeah I really love Razer and do think they are the best PC laptops out there but I wish they were a little more premium for the price they cost. Tiny changes can really cement their position at the top and please the enthusiasts. For example the X17 has nothing on the 2022 Blade 17 but they could still do a lot better. OLED is the best but even a 120 HZ glossy mini LED at 100% DCI P3 would be great at QHD. I am just a little disappointed with their currents laptop lineup. Maybe we will see something really special in the next refresh. I just wanted to create this post for Razer to read and for users like you to chime in with your opinions. Maybe if we can get enough people writing suggestions they just might listen. That single auxiliary fan is really useless on the 17 inch and just reduces the battery capacity on a big laptop.
There might be hope for better screens coming soon because Samsung made the screen for the Alienware Quantom Dot OLED curved monitor. The new Alienware AW3423DW monitor is the first OLED screen that is high hertz and Gsync on board. Samsung made the screen for Alienware and they made the 4K 60 OLED for Razer in the previous model. Maybe Razer might work with Samsung for a Quantom Dot OLED 17 inch Blade with a QHD or 4K offering? Just food for thought.
