    Hi Guys,

I just got the Razer phone on launch day, updated everything including Youtube App.

    I discovered a big problem:

On any 60pfs YouTube video, the razer phone can only play 720p, that is 720p60 under "quality".

On the same video 4K 60fps www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvnA5ZckC3M&t=128s, as my photo shown, a mere Galaxy A5 (2017) can play 1080p60, but Razer phone can only do 720p60? It should do 1440p60 as my other google pixel 2 XL.

It applies to any 60pfs videos, I tested it out on various devices and it indeed exists.

Please let me know if you have same issues.

Devices need to be whitelisted from Google in order to play the correct resolution and frame rate.

Google devices are of course whitelisted straight away but some devices take a while. I remember for months my OP5 would auto play videos in 480p it was so damn annoying. But basically there's nothing wrong with your device it's on Googles end.

It's a pity how Razer get's blamed for the mistakes of other companies. Just like they get blamed about shipping in the Paid To Play Program even though it's the shipping companies that are charging outrageous prices. And the only thing Razer is trying to do, is do right by their fan base.

oh wow, so does that mean currently razer phone cannot play videos above 720p60 on all of youtube?

I can't say for sure as mine is still in its box I refuse to use it until I get some tempered glass on it but it could very well be the case yes. But it's not Razer's fault if it can't play them atm.

Here's the "Stats for nerds" output from the YouTube's app. I'm able to replicate with any video 1080p or greater.

Yes, our team has discussed getting whitelisted by Google. No timeframe just yet.

1080p and above has been there for a while but I've still to find a 1080 60FPS video it's still all 720/60fps still

I never ran into a 1080 video but I did this morning so that's a good sign.

To your point though checked a few 4k and 8k 60fps videos and yeah it's still 720p60. So I'm leaning towards it's still in the process of being whitelisted.

Seems like the whitelisting went through a few days ago as I'm going 1440p60 as an option again and enjoying it

The only issue now if that the app will frequently desync audio and video and the video will be about 1-2 seconds behind.

This happens on all refresh rate options; observed in both 30 and 60 fps videos at all resolutions
