QHD Razer Blade Stealth Freezing

    Hey guys, I've been looking to buy the 128gb QHD RBS, but this thread and plenty other posts worry me. Has this issue been resolved or is it still persistent? I just need a laptop for college and classes and I cannot have this freezing in the middle of me taking notes in class or working on a project. This is a better bang for the buck than any other option and it's between this and the MBP for me. Thank you in advance for the help.

    I have a feeling my issues are overheating related. I'm occasionally running around 73 degrees Celsius, which is pretty hot for a laptop. My computer tends to BSOD around that temp. I think razer's fan compensation curve is too light, so I'm trying out a 3rd party fan controller that prevents the CPU from going above 65 degrees.

    I could just have just drawn a bad hand, but if you end up getting a RBS, I highly recommend saving often, or taking notes on the cloud just in case.

    I used to have a macbook, and that thing never froze on me once. Very reliable machines. My only downfall with a mac is that their graphics cards are very, very bad.

  3. I have had no issues with mine and I really like the system for work at the university.

    When it first arrives give it a thorough check and RMA anything that isn't perfect. There are some great threads on the forum here with different ways to stress test it.

    I replaced my freezing RBS by another unit. It does not freeze (but heats to 100C).

    i hope mines not breaking down, I'm based in the Philippines where RBS isnt released yet. :slightly_sad:

    How I got my Blade Stealth To Stop Freezing!

    Hello all. I had gone through 4 repairs before finally getting it resolved. The issue is the graphics driver conflicts with windows 10.

    Please try installing the latest graphics driver from intel. If you try to check latest driver, it will tell you that you have the latest one, however, once I installed the new driver I have not had the my stealth freeze once!

    Please try it.

    Man if you red carefully the thread the newer drivers do help but do not solve it completely. Read before posting.

    Hey everyone,

    I too have the 128GB QHD, and the constant freezing makes the laptop completely unusable, but I think I may have found the fix.

    I tried updating the Chipset and Display drivers to the latest version, and while this increased the time between freezes, it didn't resolve it.

    I then decided to take a shot in the dark and killed Synapse. I figured what the hell, might as well try it. My RBS has now been running for 36 consecutive hours without a single issue, and this is with it going idle and shutting the screen off due to inactivity. The most time I've been able to go before this is 3-6 hours, so this is a drastic improvement.

    Now I'm not a software programmer, so I can't go into anything other than mere speculation why Synapse would be causing the crash, but I figured I would share my experience in hopes that this helps to track down the issue and possibly get Razer's attention to fix Synapse (if it is indeed the cause).     Just for your information: my first freeze with updated drivers happened after 2 weeks of usage.

    I see.

    The last time it froze for me was May 18th, (checked though my email discussion with Razer support to confirm). It's been a month... so I feel like it did solve my problem.

    Hope your issue is resolved soon too.

  13. Mine is still freezing once a day. when its completely idle doing nothing, just hard lock up and hold power-button to restart. I just received the Core but haven't tried it yet, but I think im going to try to RMA and get it fixed I don't know what else to do
  14. I am having the same issues. Today I got a window error for the first time ever - WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. I googled it and it says that this is a hardware issue.

    My QHD Razer Stealth freezes once a day, sometimes under normal web/mail use and sometimes when I'm running Lightroom for photo editing. I've tried updating drivers through the Razer site, used drivers from the component manufacturer sites, and it still hasn't resolved my issue. I have also exhausted all the recommendations here on these forums.

    I emailed customer support and they told me to do a system restore. Unfortunately windows isn't giving me any event logs for when things happen, nor am I receiving a BSOD. I guess i'll give the system restore a shot before I request an RMA....

    I had the same issue as well...

    I think the issue is from graphic driver and killer 1350 card
    try update the latest graphic driver from intel
    replace the killer 1350 card with intel 8260 card

    My experience..
    First, I updated to the latest graphic driver from intel, but the issue still continuous and it's annoying.. So, I check the Event Viewer and it seems like the issue is with the killer card, I updated the driver from killer website and Razer updates, the issue still exist for months.. I almost gave up on this, until I saw a thread about how to replace the killer card to intel, then it gives me hope.. and I said to myself i'd love to give it a try.. SO... I ordered the intel 8260 card from Amazon, and replaced the card when I got it.. and now.. the issue seems fixed because it doesn't freezes anymore, at least so far...
  17. how easy or difficult is it to remove the killer card and install the intel 8260? at some you also removed the killer drivers/software suite as well?

    I've replaced the drivers on the graphics card and so far so good. I'm going to put it through some more stress testing this week but i've made it a few days without a lockup.
  20. I just got my RBS QHD a few days ago, and have to admit, I am having mixed feelings about it. They keyboard is meh, at best, the screen is okay, though not as bright as I am used to, battery is meh, and the lockups are really annoying. I had 2 this morning alone, though I did just update my intel graphics driver, so hopefully that helps.

    But..... It is just so damn light, comfortable, excellent design, and just plain gorgeous to look at lol. I am a sucker for those things. But, the lockups are a really big problem for me, I can deal with them every couple of days, but several times a day is not going to work for me, so hopefully that driver update resolves/reduces the issue. Has anyone else been having better luck since the update?
