I currently have a Blackwidow Chroma with Razer Green switches and I noticed that the switches have the Kailh logo also printed on it. Later I noticed that the new Blackwidow X and Blackwidow v2 doesn't have the Kailh logo printed anymore on the switches. Is it that Razer doesn't use Kailh based switches anymore on their newer keyboards?

They do not use the kailh switches anymore, And they have not for the past year and a half or so, But some stores still have the ones with kailh switches since they had a big stock. They used Greetech switches for the past little while, and in the Blackwidow X. The key switches in the new Blackwidow V2 look different from both, And it is not fully known what the new keyboard has, Or if its just an updated Greetech.

How are the Greetech switches compared to Keilh?

Better build quality is the main difference as far as I know. I think they may have a bigger live span. Don't know that much about the Keyboard Switches.

More consistency. Better feel. For Razer's newest keyboards, the manufacturer might not be Kailh or Greetech. We can't know for sure until someone dismantles one to find out. I would but I don't have one yet, my current BlackWidow uses Greetech stealth switches.

  6. A couple of months ago, I bought the standard BW Chroma with Kailh switches and returned it the same day precisely because of the switches. Extremely inconsistent and stiff. Now the Greetech switches on my BW X are, in my opinion, superior to Cherry MX blues in terms of tactility and sound. So much in fact that I even sold my Filco Majestouch on Ebay. Not sure if I got a particularly good batch of switches or if the exposed metal plate of the BW X makes a big difference, but I don't think I will ever go back to Cherry mx blues. I'd rather go vintage and try to find a good blue alps board :)

I'm glad to hear that! Guess my next keyboard is going to be a Razer again :wink_:
