I'm thinking the only way to get it to switch from your keyboard / headset to your speakers you will need to remove the two audio jacks from your computer that are part of the keyboard. It's the fastest way for your computer to see your surround sound speakers. Just plug those two jacks back in when you want to use your headset. It appears that your computer doesn't realize you have two separate audio headers. Seems like your motherboard can't see two separate audio headers.
That is strange, because when you plug in the keyboard it doesn't register a front jack. i'll have to get back to you on this. It is really seeming like a driver issue. But it's hard to say which one.
Yeah, but he's problem is that he doesn't want to have to crawl under his desk to unplug his headset. A viable option would be to try and get a converter from the three outputs in the rear to a single S/PDIF and plug it into the coaxial port above them. and use the ports in the back for keyboard passthrough. and then he can manually choose using his realtek digital output. That would be my best recommendation without getting way to complicated.
True unless he needs to install different / newer drivers. It seems like the drivers he has installed aren't correct.
That is the other option, but it is hard to narrow down exactly which channel is having the issue without being physically there... lol
Lol yeah. A real simple option is to get a USB headset like the kraken and just hook it into the side of the keyboard.
Lol, I actually have a really good question. OP, What type of speakers are you using? and does it support digital output, Being S/PDIF either coaxial or optical?
Thanks for the advice! I am going to try something like this Thanks for looking in to this! Really appreciate it My next headset will definitely be a USB headset haha
Tech's question is actually a good question. If your speakers support digital output you could switch them to that instead.
I don't think my set supports that.. Doesn't have the big orange one or the one underneath that. But i'm going to check it to be sure
TechAgn3l and KraZe, i just found the solution! It was very simple, just looked over it! In my Realtek Driver i had a setting that was on: 'Mute the rear output device, when a front headphone plugged in.' Now it's on: 'Make front and rear two different audio streams simultaneously' (see picture) So now i do have 2 different speakers in my Playback devices!(see picture 2) Thank you very much guys! So now when i want to switch the sound, i just go to Playback Devices and change the device i want to : 'Set as default Device'. (Guess that's the quickest way) Thanks for the help!
Woot! Glad you found the fix. I was puzzled and stumped by it. I knew it was something dealing with the realtek driver / hardware. Realtek can be silly at times and each Realtek device is totally different. Tehehe Now I know how to fix this problem if it ever comes up again!
