Good day and thank you in advance for the advice.
I just got a refurbished/new Blade 17 Pro and would like some advise on upgrading the RAM and HDD/SSD. Also this is my first gaming type laptop as well as my first non Mac computer as well so please go easy on me here. lol I usually game on PS4/PS5 when at home but a friend of mine told me about PC gaming so here I am giving this a shot.
The system currently has 16G RAM and a 500G drive. I was thinking of going to 32G of RAM and 1TB drive but not sure if it would be better/more cost effective to go to a 64G RAM as well.
What would be the recommended brand/type of RAM chips to install and recommended brand/type of HDD/SSD to install?
I do a lot of traveling for work and mainly game on the road. I have also noticed this PC get REALLY REALLY hot. I am guessing this is normal when running games such as Elden Ring and Destiny 2 ?
Any advice welcome and opinions.
Thank you again

Hi there,
Based on personal experience, I'd say a 32GB RAM would suffice.
For RAM chips, my highest recommendation would be Kingston Fury Impact DD4 ones. Probably you could get a pair of 16GB which would be optimal. As for SSD, you could try Samsung ones (970 or 980 would be decent all-round).
Temps wise it's normal for it to get hot, given it's metal chassis, particularly for extended gaming sessions. But if you do a proper cleanup every 2-3 months with a can of compressed air it'll do good over the long run.

32 GB should be all you need on RAM unless you're doing a ton of multi-tasking and intensive things like video editing and the like. As for the 1TB upgrade on the SSD, go for it. 512 GB isn't bad, but that 1 TB does make a difference.
As for the brand of RAM, I found the Corsair stuff to be pretty good. Regarding the SSD, Samsung and Crucial make good SSDs that are fast, reliable, and priced well.
