  1. I'm having issues with my blackwidow x ultimate. I like the keyboard so far but an issue i have with is if the switches are the ones from greetech and not khail. Since from images of razer blackwidow x i saw the new switches and thought that if i got this keyboard it would have the switches since i heard complaints about the older switch. So i got it and im still unsure if i should return this or not. Does anyone know if i have the old switches or not?

Those are the 3rd gen Kailh switches. It seems Razer has stated using Kailh again, which I'm not happy with.

Any idea when they started using these switches again?
I bought my keyboard a week or two ago. I hope I didn't get them as well.

I assumed that Razer switched to Greetech all across the board, but that was incorrect. Maybe they're using both at the same time like Skrunch hypothesized.

Maybe different models get different switches?

The first photo you showed is of the BlackWidow X Chroma. You have BlackWidow X Ultimate so maybe that's the reason for the difference.

  5. well the razer 2016 editionthat i bought had the same exact switches. im really unhappy with razer and im rather thinking of getting a different clicky keyboard thats not from razer or i can give razer a third chance and try to get the greetech switches

I really hope they didn't go back to the Kailh switches. My GF got my blackwidow chroma ordered from the razer black friday sale for xmas. I have yet to use it as it is a christmas gift but Im really hoping that it doesnt have kailh switches. It says 60M keystrokes on the box which is apparently a red flag that it has kailh switches but who knows. I'll see as soon as I get it and post pics.

If they have changed back to Kailh switches, they will have to be 80 million keystrokes,as what would be the point in downgrading?
There is already enough confusion regarding the manufacturer for their switches, can't they just say who the switches are made by on the box?

Did you read my post lol? I was trying to say that it might be because you have the Ultimate instead of the Chroma. Not sure what you mean by 'razer 2016 edition' that's pretty vague.
    They already are:
I guess not many people care about the small details.
    Please do.

No one knows what you are trying to say when you say "razer 2016 edition" and your previous post made no sense which is why ppl are having trouble following the discussion. If you want your responses addressed you need to be more clear.

Yep, it's certainty starting to look as if Razer is using both Greetech and Kailh to manufacturer their switches, with it being completely random which one the user receives in their keyboard.

I actually looked up a review of the Ultimate 2016 when it came out and their unit had Greetech switches which seems to further prove the above to be true: https://www.slashgear.com/razer-blackwidow-ultimate-2016-review-08407910/

Razer should really reconsider this choice, as so far the Greetech switch has received nothing but praise, while the Kailh switch was hit or miss for most people depending on the QA that went into their keyboard.

It also doesn't help that Razer isn't openly public about the companies that
manufacture their switches. It would help if they just made a statement regarding the switches and if this mix of manufacturer's will become the norm from now on.

Edit: Got a bit confused since OP linked an Amazon link to the BW: Ultimate 2016, but in his picture he posted, it's a BW: X Ultimate, so they are two different keyboards but still, it would be strange if Razer was putting Kailh switches into a few select models.

One last thing, Razer, on their website pictures are showing the BW: X Ultimate with Greetech switches: http://assets.razerzone.com/eeimages/products/24363/razer-blackwidow-x-ultimate-lifestyle-3.jpg

Yeah personally I believe that Razer should stick with one manufacturer anyways. Doesn't make sense people are purchasing the same product but getting different hardware. There needs to be consistency in the same product at least, unless there is an issue. But doesn't make sense to keep both switches then.

Oh, I'm sorry you're right. The quality of your writing is simply far too great for me to comprehend. My feeble peasant mind just can't keep up. I apologize for trying to help. Please forgive me.

As you wish, I wont go on this thread anymore.

This a model Blackwidow Ultimate 2016, just like Raijin said, and he was right. There is no Blackwidow 2016 edition. There is standard (no lights), Ultimate, Chroma, Chroma TE and all other with 'X'.

For me it seems that your keyboard has new switches, and the keyboard on the photo has the old Kailh switches. Blackwidow X on the first photo has the same looking switch as I do in my BW 2014 TE.

So yeah, you probably hot the new switch, or they just simple changed thay layout if it. I heard that all of Razer mech keyboard are gonna be Greetech now.

Raijin actually made a detailed post covering the Kailh revisions and Greetech switch in another thread: https://insider.razerzone.com/index...n-blackwidow-chromas.17828/page-3#post-301584

From the OP's picture, he does have Kailh "generation 3" switches. You can tell by the rectangular indentations on the sides of the switch, placed near the middle.

Lol didn't see that thread. Thanks Raijin for a research.

Yeah it seems it is third generation, I have the same in BW 2014 TE. But the outside cover and the look is little bit different...
