So, i am leaving the Macbook Pro next year and i was thinking on getting a Razer blade but the 14" model needs a design overhaul by now....

My expectations for the NEW model would be:

    1. New bigger Trackpad with 0 clicking annoying buttons.
    2. Kavy Lake i7 Quad Core 2.8ghz CPU
3 Nvidia Gtx 1060 since its a cooler GPU
    4. MORE Thunderbolt 3/USB C connections instead of just 1... There are new thunderbolt monitors arriving and we need more ports.
    5. SD card reader obviously and maybe 1 or 2 new USB A connections... Not more than that, Thunderbolt is the way to go from now on.
    6. Edgeless Screen bezel... Just expand the screen to each corner....

Now Design wise.... There are 2 major things i would love to see...
    1. Make your logo glossy black? Just get rid of the green glowing logo. I personally think it would look more sleek.
    2. Is it possible to bring a new color, Something thats not Matte Black... Maybe Carbon Silver(Not Matte) with a Dark glossy logo

Thats it for me..... Idk what other suggestions you guys might want to add.....

    1. I agree a new trackpad with better buttons would be good. A lot of people seem to not like the feel of the buttons.
    2. I think a Kaby lake cpu is a given for next years
    3. it already has the 1060 in it...
    4. I agree 1 more TB3/USB-c port would be nice. I dont think more then 2 is needed since you can just get a adaptor that can handle more, but 1 dedicated for the core, and 1 extra for other stuff would be nice.
    5. I dont think SD card reader is needed that much anymore on a laptop this thin. You can just get a adaptor for one for super cheap. If you need a pro machine and absolutely need an SD card slot, there is one in the blade Pro :)
    6. Idk why people freak out about bezels so much..they arent that big of a deal. But would be kind of cool if they could fit a 15inch screen on the 14inch blade by making the bezels smaller.

    1. I like the look of the green snake logo on it. Its what makes razer things razer. Everything has a glowing razer logo pretty much.
    2. Razers color is black. it has been for a long time. black and green. black case, green glowing logo. I dont think that needs to change. I think personally think the design of the blade is perfect the way it is. its what makes a razer blade stand out from all the macbooks.

My suggestion would be to add the low profile mechanical keys into the 2017 blade, that they put in the blade pro. Other then that, I think the blade is awesome for the way it is. there is only so much you can do with a 14inch laptop of that form factor.

Yes, i would love a 15" model instead of the 14" they are currently using. They can definitely get out more from the extra space. I think the Razer Blade needs an overhaul from scratch in terms of looks.

It will still be thin, clean and sleek, but i just believe a glossy black standard logo opens up more ways for them to play around NEW colors. The problem with the GREEN glowing logo is:

    1. Its too on the Nose for most professionals who use them and they end up covering up with a decal or a cover. There is just no way a company spends so much time making a computer sexy looking just so people go to covered it up.

    2. The Razer Blade is harder to combine with new colors because the GREEN logo simply doesn't fit well with just any color outside of black.

If they stick with the Green glowing logo, maybe they can at least offers different options for "Black"..... Black aluminum(None Matte), Charcoal Grey, etc....

Seriously, Not every gaming laptop needs a colorful logo.... The AORU X7 so far is the only one with a sleek glossy plane design but its bigger than a Razer Blade....

I think it's time for a new design ^__^ The current one is nice but...need infinity monitors and the external look is ready for a change.

I think they need like a clear logo...and have it be chroma...or you can turn it off. a chroma logo would be super awesome and would match the rest of their products.

@powerhouse_pr So to sum it up, what you want is a 15" MacBook Pro with a real dedicated GPU in it?

I'd prefer if they kept it 14". Maybe if they added another size option or something but if it were any bigger it wouldn't be as portable for me.

I'm saying...keep the same form factor...but remove the bezels and get the screen to 15 inches that way. that way the computer isnt getting any bigger. just the screen.

14" is the sweet spot to keep the form factor

2x standard USB ports + 2x TB3/USB Type-C, no need for an SD card reader. You should be used to carry around adapters, coming from a MacBook :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:

I don't mind the bezel: keeps the screen solid and keep it from having backlit issues.

They should make the logo Chroma. I think that way everyone would be happy.

From the early benchmarks/rumors on Kaby Lake, I'm scared that it will be toasty (aka 4th gen) in a laptop this size

And I don't want a bigger track pad!!! I tired the one on the new MacBook and I hate it! Also I like the physical buttons.

I'm a technology architect and I don't mind the look of the laptop. Never had a VP or a CEO saying something bad about my Blade. And BTW, it's "for gamers, by gamer", not "for professionals, by professionals". It is what it is.

From the reviews I saw that keyboard is awful. But I haven't tried it myself.

Yeah the size of the current blade is a sweet spot for sure. And i really think they should make the logo chroma, since they are pushing for that in all their other products.

does kaby lake really run that much hotter? you mentioned it would be more toasty.

And i dont think it needs a bigger trackpad..maybe just a little better, and better physical buttons since a lot of people say they are squishy.

I agree that its for gamers..and shouldnt be built towards professionals.

What reviews did you see that said it was horrible? All the reviews I saw on the keyboard said it was decent and just took some getting used to and then it feels really nice

If that sounds possible that would be f**cking awesome! I didn't think of that. Would be so awesome. They would really have to reduce the bezels that way though

They also need to add the mechanical key switch from the Razer Blade Pro!!!!!!!! I can understand if they don't for marketing reasons as it may theoretically interfere with RBP sales, but it would be super awesome to see a mechanical keyboard on the Blade 14.

Is there actually any rumors about a new release of the razer blade 14" in 2017? Just asking..

They refresh the Blade every year, and in some cases multiple times a year. Therefore, there is a near certainty that there will be a 2017 Blade...

It just sounds like you are too attached to your Macbook and want something that is a Macbook with a GPU. Honestly, Apple design is freaking terrible, especially with Ive in charge now.

The current blade design is great just the way it is, though I do agree with everyone, a chroma logo would be pretty freaking amazing. The only thing I would really change is that. Otherwise it is an extremely solid device.

My Pro comes tomorrow so maybe I'll have to add the mechanical keyboard too, depends on if I like it ;)

I am the last person on this forum who would buy an Apple product. I've never owned one in my entire life and regularly roast Apple fanboys.

But what you said is simply not true. Apple design is extremely well done. They have produced several game changers. The iPhone made candybar capacitive touchscreen phones the norm. MacBooks shaped the category of thin, light, metal, powerful, luxurious laptops. And the Blade's design is clearly inspired by it.

Out of all American tech companies, Apple is worth the most at $550+ billion.

    Not because of value/economy.

Not because of bleeding edge tech.

Not because of gaming grade specs.

But because they have almost perfect UX and design.

I'd add unparalleled customer service to Apple's success.

Perhaps I'm a bit bitter, but that's the main area that Razer needs to improve - QC and Customer Service.

    I a
Agree that they did some things right, but I believe that it has been going down hill for years, and I don't agree with the UX and design is the reason for their success. I mean really, a trash can computer?!

I think their success is because of their idiot, brainwashed followers. You put anything in front of them and tell them it is the next apple they will praise it and throw money at you like no other.

In general Material design is WAY better thought out and implemented than anything apple has done, and if you put something that has it in front of an apple user (telling them it is apple) they will praise it for it's elegance and simplicity.

I also agree their warranty and support is freaking fantastic. Razer's is the worst I have ever seen. They try everything in their power to make it so they don't have to return or repair anything, give you the shortest possible warranty imaginable for their devices, and then act like you don't exist once you buy the product. (In my experience)
