  1. I've recently gotten my razer blade 14 2017. I've installed mint 18.2 dual boot and I am really annoyed the surface gets hot in idle or light surfing. Seems that in Windows everything OK.
In linux idle's temp is 55-60C and notebook's surface becomes hot. The fans disabled while it under 50C. So it enables and disables. I think just enable fan on little rpm is better. I tried NBCF tool for fan control but razer 1016 config doesn't work and I can't find working register for fans. Also I got nvidia drivers, tlp.
Will Razer intro some fan curve updates for linux?

P.S. In load fans becomes like hairdryer but notebook's surface is comfortable. I don't care about loudness but I got fire-pants and fire-palms...

Maybe some Speed step (or similar) tech on CPU/GPU doesn't work, and it works with default core clock all the time?
I'd install TLP (for advanced power management), and try to create some appropriate power plan.

Are your fans running at all, or changing speeds? I'm running Fedora 26 and only have major heat issues when plugged in/USB-C to HDMI, however I could deal with it if the fans worked, but they don't even spin up for me at all. They run in BIOS and Windows flawlessly, just not at all in Fedora.

Hi keeper 121, as far as I know the problem is the GPU. I disable it via NVIDIA Settings and now the laptop is pretty cool.

I am enabling the NVIDIA gpu only when absolutely necessary.
