I have an issue where every time I begin to play games and those of a more intensive on the GPU will start having a screen flicker on the laptop and not an external display. It takes awhile if the laptop was cool beforehand, but after spending some time into the game and sometimes that may even take under 10 minutes depending on if the laptop was used, the screen will begin to flicker even when running under an optimized below recommended settings. I’ve been playing Destiny 2 a lot as this was my main game on the Xbox console for play, and this was a way to finally play with my sibling! When I initially bought the laptop, Destiny 2 used to run fine for endless hours without any issues, and now suddenly the screen begins to flicker. The game was ran for about a month a couple weeks strong from October - November. Then December hits thus this issues has arrived.

For prior context this laptop was bought used through Mercari for reduced pricing from the vendor.
The vendor mentioned the only things that were not optimal with the laptop were:
• “Camera isn’t working (not sure if it’s only because of a driver but never cared to try to fixed because I never used the webcam anyway!)”
• “I let a friend borrow the original battery it came with to test a razer blade he bought used, returned it to me broken.... I bought a replacement battery for it on eBay but I suspect something is off about it. Battery holds just fine with normal use but shuts off when gaming (only on battery power). If plugged in, nothing whatsoever wrong with it at all.”
• The following were direct quotes from the post.

I’m not looking for a I need Razer to take this laptop now because i have no clue about if this laptop has warranty, and I would just like the general direction towards resolution or more steps on troubleshooting.

The only steps I’ve taken so far were:
• Increasing Quality over Performance for the game Destiny 2 using the GE Nvidia Game Experience for optimal settings in hoping using lower resolution would the cpu/gpu not be used intensively
• I’ve used the windows Troubleshoot Program Compatibility to see if that could help, but all methods and pushing the troubleshooter as far as having it run Destiny 2 under windows 8 and 64-Bit to help it become more compatible were not working.
•I’ve even tried rolling back the Intel graphic device as I’ve read on some forum that would help, but it did not help my case.
• My next step towards this resolution is to clean the fan in the laptop to see if maybe that is dusty/dirty which could be affecting the game performance. I’m no expert which is why I’m reaching out.

Attached you will find a video I uploaded on YouTube so I may attach the issue I am going through at the moment.

Thank you!

Hello there! Thanks for posting your laptop's concern here. It's hard to see a Razer device going through an issue. Please send me a PM together with its serial number. Let continue from there.

Hi xourge! Have you tried replicating the issue by going to Safe Mode? Should the issue persists, please send me a PM.

hi, it doesn't happen on safemode because wifi is disabled.

these are other scenarios when the screen doesn't flicker:

  • when using an USB adapter for wired network, and disconnecting from wifi networks
  • when using an USB adapter for wifi, disabling the razer blade embeded wifi network adapter
  • when turning on airplane mode
  • when disabling the wifi network adapter
  • when starting windows on safemode

basically any scenario where there's no wifi through the razer blade embeded wifi network adapter avoids the issue

Have you tried going to "Safe Mode with Networking"? Should the issue persists, please send me a PM. I'll pick it up from there.

safe mode with network has wifi disabled so no internet and no flickering
