I was transporting my laptop in a backpack, just in idle mode with a few apps open, and when I took it out approx 1 hour later, it was HOTTER than it had ever been, couldn't hold it for very long, and it was bulging under the keyboard and trackpad to the point of not being able to close all the way. I may have inadvertantly covered the intake vents on the bottom with my mousepad in the same pouch, but this has never been an issue before. The battery was low, as well. I let it sit, plugged in the charger, and turned it off. My main question is: Should I continue to use the laptop or is the bulging the result of an interior system being damaged, such as the battery? Is it still safe to use? Is it likely to recede back to normal, or will it likely retain this slight bulge it still has after twenty minutes or so? The bulge has since receded to where I can close it, and I am typing this from the laptop right now, so it seems to be functioning fine, I'm just concerned about the bulging and warping of the keyboard and casing of the laptop itself.

Hi WalabyX,

It is unsafe to keep on using a bloated battery. With the current state of your laptop, it's safe if we have it checked as soon as possible. Please PM me the serial number so I can start a case and forward your concern to the relevant team for a battery replacement or repair if necessary.
