Razer Blade 15 Advanced

So I just got my Razer Blade 15 RTX 2060 model today. I love it, however, I’m curious about gaming and FPS. Playing WoW on ultra 1080p, I’m barely getting 40 FPS, and Destiny 2, barely 50. I have GeForce experience, gaming performance on synapse. Just curious based on this version or past versions, what I can do. Thanks!

How about benchmarks scores, is it similar with users who posted it recently on Reddit, or around same with my Blade 15 last gen out of box gaming mode score (check on my signature)? If it’s similar maybe it’s games optimization issues on those software or from nvidia driver because mobile rtx still new, and I heard from user somehow you can’t update the driver directly from nvidia. Check through nvidia experience if there’s some update available.
So, I've done everything from applying high performance processor in nvidia settings/intel settings, and setting performance to maximum on battery and synapse. I just feel like the fps should be much higher in games at 1080p, whether it be max graphics or low

You can check the FPS here, there’s some free benchmarks tools that are used like 3Dmark, cinebench that can you use. You can also pm me or posting here to optimize your Blade performance, it may also other user who has similar specs join this thread.

2060 is a mid range card. Not sure what you expected.

In the first tests, the RTX 2060 performed often as good as the RTX 2070 max-q, sometimes even better.

Which first test, yours or on Notebookcheck? His Aero 15 2070 maxq Version throttle a lot, and it’s known issue from last gen Aero 15x, your 2060 should perform around 1070 Blade 15 on dx11 titles or benchmarks.

I would like to push back against anyone saying the 2060 is mid-range and therefore sub-par performance is "to be expected". It's a brand new card and OP is playing some old games. My 2017 Blade with a GTX 1060 gets better performance than this on an ultrawide monitor.

So I know these might be silly questions but...

a) have you updated your GPU drivers?
b) are you trying to run these games with the laptop unplugged?
I have used Geforce experience to update drivers and yes, the laptop is plugged in. I use to own a Razer Blade 14 2015 with a 970m that played WoW and other games at native 3200x1800, or even 1080p with 60 fps on high/ultra settings no problem. That is why this is frustrating to me. Perhaps I need to factory reset laptop and re-install? Or run benchmark testing? I have tried updating drivers, plugging in laptop, and putting on performance mode.

Thanks for the help. I have looked at other laptops online/youtube with similar specs getting better performance than mine. Everything else looks and feels flawless. I wondering if it perhaps is just brand new (Tuesday) and needs a hotfix, or I'm perhaps missing something?

What score do you get when you run a Firestrike benchmark? This could rule out a weird setting in your games throwing performance off.

I would install MSI afterburner as well, and use the monitoring tools to see if your GPU is hitting its maximum clock speeds and/or thermal throttling.

Can you run 3Dmark and posting here? There’s demo version of it and you can use two of them for measuring your Blade. There’s a lot things that can make your system not as good as other, but I don’t have your system performance image right now to judge.
I am currently at work. As soon as I get home, I will run these tests. Should be home around 5 P.M. EST. Thank you so much!

Just got home. Talking to Razer support now before downloading any benchmarks.

I just read that the 2060 is better than the 2070 Max-Q.. is it true?Because if that's true then the cheaper Blade with the 2060 would be better then the blade with 2070 max-q? I'm on a seriuose delimma right now because I'm thinking of buy the 2070 blade because I thought it might still performe better than the 2060.. and I cannot afford the much expensive blade with 2080 Max-Q.. so is the 2060 actually better than the 2070 Max-Q?

This for you, all firestrike RTX Blade 15 scores that I find proper without cpu throttling, note result may vary but not huge.
2080 maxq Cpu Undervolted gaming mode

2070maxq Gaming mode probably undervolting

2060, Probably gaming mode and probably no undervolting since he has Desktop Setting with 1080ti to play games and satisfied with the result.

And this is worse case but best result from other brands that registered on 3Dmark.

Thank you very much, I guess I didn't choose bad after all but still I'll be waiting one or two reviews though I'm definitly buying a Blade 15

Thank you! I will try downloading and comparing firestrike benchmark tomorrow. Is this with or without Nvidia drivers?

Thanks a lot, so it seems that the 2070 maxq performs a lot better than the 2060. If i buy one ( I decide at around easter), i think it will be the 2070 max q.

I heard from one of benchmarker that atm he can’t directly use the latest one when he try to update it, but it’s already Ray Tracing capable drivers since This’s what RTX are marketed, so it’s not too old driver on out of box condition. Without nvidia driver i believe you can’t run it, never tried without. Out of the box there’s factory default nvidia driver, the first that installed with on first boot from manufacturer, but you’ll want to know with the latest version since you’ll use mostly with the one that’s optimized to latest games or software, but for now due really new hardware I think it’s only out of box Ray Tracing capable driver. So for now if you’re trying to update with nvidia experience don’t do advanced option clean installation, since it may bring you to a problem for looking for appropriate driver, and it’ll be better not to upgrade ssd as well for clean windows installation until this page uploaded with Software and drivers tab like advanced 2018.

Of course more expensive one will perform better, “by a lot“ it’s subjective since 2K Firestrike scores difference in 1080p is vary between setting and titles. And early comparison like notebookcheck did isn’t good for comparing true performance since it’s different manufacturer, and each manufacturer has their own bios setting and cooling solutions that may bring huge difference. I tried 2060 on egpu setting after long time using 2070, in some titles isn’t big like 5 FPS or so but in other titles i fell a huge difference where I feel struggling with 2060, on demanding title like Shadow of the tomb Raider, FFXV, and AC Odyssey, on 1440p. I sold 2060 directly within a week usage. It’s though desktop gpu not mobile or maxq version but CUDA Cores is same only lower tdp and Core clock. And from previous 1070maxq Blade 15 can go to full 1070 laptop area because it used higher gpu tdp than most similar laptops specs. Not sure about 2019 but from experience he shared me, Blade 2080 user, it almost performs similar with and some is better compared to his desktop 2080ti on 1080p, which is make sense because 2080ti and 2080 may get similar FPS on that resolution in some titles, @4K or 1440p 2080ti will show its value better. So it may use higher tdp gpu as well this time. The time will tell more the difference with other similar specs laptops.
So I did a factory re-installation of my Razer Blade 15 RTX 2060 model. Now, I am getting better fps in Wow, at ultra 1080p, and my Fire-strike benchmark was about the same, and even slightly better than the 14613 score you posted before. Thank you!
