Razer Blade 15 (GTX 1060): suddenly low framerate (below 10fps) even after doing a system recovery

Hello guys,

I've been using my Razer Blade 15 (GTX 1060) for the last two years without any problems: gaming and working in 2D and 3D with great performance.

The other day and without any specific change everything related with video went down below 10fps. From games like DOOM Eternal (which used to work with stable 60fps), to an empty Unreal Engine viewport or even dragging a simple window explorer.

Tryed reinstalling the video drivers, updating Windows to the last version, checking that it's using the video card, and finally doing a system recovery.

But nothing fixed it. After the system recovery, I installed only the basics to check the problem: Windows updates, video drivers and Steam with a game to check it out. The problem is still there.

It's pretty frustrating because the games or programs start well and then in just a few seconds they go down to less than 10 fps (same with 3D programs).

I've checked all the information I've seen here in the forum, but nothing seems to work so far.

Any ideas would be much appreciate it. Thank you.

You will want to check if this has anything to do with thermals. Please download and install HWMonitor and keep track of the CPU and GPU temps during your typical workday workload. You will also want to run multiple passes of benchmarking apps and try to get your laptop to thermal throttle. Do send me your results and the serial number so I can help you further isolate the issue.
