I've installed Ubuntu 18.04 alongside Windows 10. The trackpad works perfectly on Windows. On Ubuntu 18.04 however, the trackpad is completely unresponsive.

I've tried installing the synaptics driver with no success:
    sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

I saw a tweet by someone who got their trackpad working in Linux on the RB 15 - but I've also spoken to my team to see if we can get a Linux driver for it.

Thank you for looking into this! This new blade is fantastic! Everyone I've handed it to has been extremely impressed by the build quality and styling. The performance is really quite amazing considering the size. I feel that Razer laptops could be a very popular choice among developers who have been stuck using laptops such as Dell XPS and Macs (which have less performance for the price). Also, the styling of laptops that compete with the Blade in 2018 are no where near as tasteful. I feel completely confident bringing the Blade with me into any professional setting.

So it looks like the guy who tweeted had an RB Pro, not the new 2018 RB 15. It rather looks as though there's no solution to the trackpad issue with Linux at the moment. Has anyone made any progress?

Just a quick update. It looks like there has been some progress here:
    https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199911

    "Touchpad mouse movement functional.
    Touchpad left mouse button functional.
    Touchpad right mouse button functional.
    Touchpad 2 finger scroll functional.
Touchpad tap to click, not functional, don't see a setting on gnome settings to enable that."

    It's a good start...

Any ETA on this? This is a real deal breaker for me as I purchased this laptop for dev work in Ubuntu/Mint. Such a bummer that touch pad could be a blocker in 2018.

We have engineering currently looking at this issue and we have started dialogues with some of our partners. I will update the thread as I get more information.

What tangible benefits does Discord offer that makes it worthwhile forking (or shadowing, if you like) the Linux community for the Blades? I thought the whole idea of the Linux Corner here was to create this community...

This. A tutorial on how to download and install this would be appreciated, either from Razer or Ubuntu.

    Hi Guys,
I have some great news for you guys! I just bought the Razer Blade 15 version and I was successfully able to download and install Ubuntu 18.04 on the system. I did not have any trackpad problem.
I was also skeptical about it but I had a word with Razer office and they mentioned that I could return the machine within 14 days even if I tried dual booting the system and if it crashed. But I guess there is no need for doing that.
I am now using the Razer Blade 15 (2018) dual booted with Ubuntu 18.04 and Windows 10 (which I got from Razer on board).
    I hope it helps!
    Thanks!

This is thanks to the new 1.5 BIOS Razer released. A definite improvement. There are still issues with some distros. I'm certainly having difficulty with Kali but I'd expect that as it typically lags behind others in terms of hardware support. It's not a massive issue as it's not my primary desktop OS (nor should it be) but it'll be good when I can get either the trackpad or the bluetooth working...
