I was considering getting a razer blade 15 intel i7-10875H, NVDIA GeForce RTX 3080. I was going to use it for school and gaming. I was just wondering if anyone else that has purchased this laptop already could give me any feedback.

Just dont buy a Razer for school. I mean they are great products but the batterylifetime is just pretty short. You always have to dimm the screen. even on light work you will get at best 4-5h. When doing some more intense stuff you will get about 2-3 at max hours of battery.

There’s optimus technology that switching between intel/amd depends the processor manufacturer (called iGPU) and power hunger nvidia gpu (dGPU). It depends on the model (battery capacity) as well, model that is being mentioned by OP for example has 80Wh battery, using iGPU only aiming ca 10 watt (light usage like paperwork browsing with non gaming screen refresh rate, 60Hz, battery saver mode, check the wattage using 3rd party apps sensor like HWinfo64, like on attachment) battery consumption I t’ll be around 7 hours, as you mentioned 4 to 5 hours probably it’s consuming around 20 watt or more on this model. There’s also other Razer laptops that’s using low wattage parts like Razer Blade Stealth and Book 13 that would give more battery life as trade off lower gpu performance, or more efficient amd processor on blade 14.
Here attachment on how the battery works on blade 14, it’s yes only windows and software estimation run time but in real use case I never need to charge when using it from full charge condition on working days, unless I wake the nvidia gpu for gaming etc.
He asked about the 15 Blade not 14 or 13.

Also I have also experience from two blades. One was a 2019 Late Advanced with a 2070 and 200Hz display. The battery lasted, even on lowest brightness and only with the IGPU for about 5hours on just light stuff like, surfing and office stuff.

When used for more intense stuff like, YouTube, some higher brightness etc. I just had 3-4h at max. It is knowen that Razer or Intel "Gaming" Books in general aren't the best in terms of battery lifetime.

There is no high Battery lifetime. At best, the very best I see 6 hours on everything low and not doing much, like watching the desktop. Even with my undervolted blade from 2019 with a -.125V I didnt saw more than 6Hours of batterytime.

Yes I know he’s asking about blade 15 and I habe advanced 2018 as well but due battery wear I can’t give it for comparison. If your unit is relatively new and got such lower run time, then your some of your software bugging the optimus, it’s known issue, by tracking the wattage using HWinfo64 with 80Wh battery on advanced you can easily getting 7 hours. I’ll back with the picture of run time if I found it, after 2 years yes it was down to like 5 hours with battery degradation, first 2 years with cpu undervolting, backlight off and screen brightness 70%, which’s simple tweak per synapse and xtu, plus manual 60hz refresh rate i was getting 7 hours plus. Again depends how user use their blade it might be varying that’s why I mentioned ca 10 watt power consumption.
