Hello everyone, I'm in pretty desperate need for a second reliable charger and apparently (when I last checked) Razer still has yet to offer the option to purchase one off of their website. When looking at the previous Blade iteration, Razer states that it's incompatible with the 2016.

Has anyone found any alternatives, etc.?

    Thank you!

RAZER 150W POWER ADAPTER Not compatible with the New Razer Blade 2016............. wow..... I just find it ..... guess there is not answer ebay doesn't work

Yeah that 150W power adapter will not work, I already contacted support to ask because I have an old blade pro with the 150W adapter. They did tell me that the new 165W adpater would work on my old blade pro but not vice versa. You should contact the Razer support they can probably get one to you before they actually put them on their site.

Wow. I had no idea. I assumed that the one listed on the website would work, but since I didn't need one I never bothered to check the page. Surprised Blade 16 don't have a back up if their charger gets lost.

I contacted support and basically there's no ETA--they merely suggested to follow their Social Media pages in order to be among the 'first' to learn of said news.

    *sighs* :slightly_sad:

Did you ask if there was any way you could purchase one directly from them instead of through razerzone?

Well that is unfortunate news... :/

Cool, does it charge your laptop up at the same rate? I'm suprised that it works since it's only rated at 150W and the new blade uses a 165W adapter, Razer support said that my old 150W adapter would not work due to a "simple technical limitation whereby it would not supply enough power to the Blade 2016." Besides that the brand of adapter, PWR, I got one for my dads hp laptop and it worked great.
  10. I'm guessing that it's charging slower, but since I'm at work during the day I don't really notice..

I bought this same one and returned it because it wouldn't charge the laptop. I guess it is possible that I just got unlucky with a bad brick, but mine would only say, "Connected, not charging."

I did a test and ran my battery down to 25%. With all my peripherals connected, I plugged the charger in, and it said the same thing, "Connected, not charging."

I then did some hard core gaming for a few hours with it plugged in. Every time I checked, the battery said the same thing. However, I was surprised that my battery didn't completely drain, so I figured the charge was at least being maintained while plugged in. So, I unplugged it, and the battery read at 12%. In other words, the battery was draining even while plugged in. Granted, I think the charger slowed it down, but it definitely wasn't supplying enough juice to maintain, let alone charge, the battery under a heavy load.

Finally, I powered down and plugged the charger back in. I let it sit overnight, and when I booted up the next morning, my battery was still at 12%. The adapter wouldn't charge, even with the laptop off.

Again, it is possible I got a bad one. Do you mind doing a few tests like this for us?

    Yes, :slightly_sad:
  13. I keep the charger that came with the laptop at home at my desk. The one that I got from Amazon I keep at work. I've had it a few weeks and I guess the best test is once a week I let the battery drain down to 10% at work, then plug in to let it charge. It takes a few hours - guessing 3 or so - to charge completely, but that's definitely with the 3rd party charger. It's plugged in to that one now and says 100% fully charged.

Thanks. Have you tested it while peripherals are connected?

For example, I have a wireless mouse, laptop cooler, USB-C to LAN adapter, and Samsung T3 SSD connected. Clearly those draw power, and the included power supply handles it all just fine (meaning, a drained battery will charge even with the computer powered on and all those peripherals running).

I wonder if this is why the Amazon one wouldn't work? I never tested it without all the peripherals. Hmm...
  16. I've got a laptop cooler, usb mouse/keyboard at work. That's about it though.

Cool. Thanks for responding back. I think I'll re-order one and see how it goes.

What laptop cooler are you using? Do you feel that it makes it a noticeable difference?

The amazon one does not work. I just contacted Razer support via facebook and their ticket system and they told me to wait. I asked when and they said no ETA. :slightly_sad:
