Waste too much time on these machines already, I do appreciate this great community, hence my involvement, but im done, I have my resolution already.

Haha another BM just finished, 8996, what a piece of crap.

BTW, using a bigger AC 180w, has no bearing on performance

I appreciate yours and FireBat work on this. You guys have been the true Razer support.

I will keep the struggle with Razer because I like the design too much but I must say that it has left a very bad taste.

  3. Nah ur 100% right 2bh,
It's a wonderful machine, great build quality etc, but IMO it doesnt really excuse them for limiting the power on the GPU by what they have in comparison to competitors.

I love my blade, it does what i need it to, but it does seem this could get very very interesting in the future, if manufacturers are like, this has a GTX 1080 (for example) in the machine, but its actually been down clocked to the same performance as a 1070, doesnt really help the person buying the machine know what they are getting in relative performance levels.

I think the difference, in frame rate with between the 10k you can achieve on your MSI to the 9.7 / 9.6 you can get on the blade is probably somthing like 4fps, if your digging the blade and what it offers with its form factor and build, just keep on this train.

I wouldn't worry too much about what the future offers, because by the time the 1060 is no good for what you wanna do, you have the razer core if your using it as a desktop replacement, which is a nice ability to have that "safeguard" for future proofing.

I'm just hoping this thing can manage to last me a good 4 years, and i'll be stoked, I don't really think the lesser performance of the this model has tarnished me from buying Razer again, but that could be because I have a rig at home that I do everything on and this is just for around the house, travel and work, but I would like more company's to move the aluminium macbook esk style to offer a greater competition.

Now to save my pennies for a 1080 TI and a Skylake-X 2066 build :D

  4. Sorry, know there is a long list, 1 last thing you may wanna change (you may already have based on ur high performance remaker there), under Nvidia Control Panel, under the manage settings, make sure you change the power management to Prefer Max Performance, (for games like wow, because you can set it for individual games if you want, i turn this to "ADAPTIVE" simply because i dont mind the card downclocking itself when im sitting on 60fps to save heat.
But the default that nvidia use now, "Battery Optimize" is downright crappola

Hm, when ya'll are running your benchmarks, what does GPU-Z report for GPU load %? I was stress testing mine, and it was reporting PWR throttling but wasn't anywhere near 100% load yet. Not even 50%/

Edit: after rebooting my laptop, util goes to 100% again. Weird.

Who manufactures rb's mobos? Something to do with buses maybe? Have you noticed a 'hang' when polling battery or running MSI AB?

It is either a screwed up controller or just plain bad mobo. Sad it takes 2 grand to find out lol

Theres no way around this, is amazing. I swear to god i wasnt expecting high performance, but hell, something over 9.35 - 9.4 and thats a keeper with a bit of oc, but 8900-9000 is just bad (in my case) good for anyone with respectable performance

Yes, actually. A hitch when hitting the battery icon, and if I drag the AB window around, it always stops dragging every time it hits a poll interval. I already have a ticket open to RMA this laptop. I am getting 9500ish in Firestrike though with +140/+200 stable.

Yeah I am testing that on a different laptop thinking it might be windows but can't make it happen... it seems like there is a STOP when the cpu is polling some stuff from the controller... the EC controls the battery, some buses, the CPU clock etc... so it might be that or something else, who knows... not me... maybe I am just making it up.

Great investigative work in this thread, guys. I really want to write an article about this, but I want to wait until the nature/extent of the problem (and solution) are clear. It's hard to get concrete information on whether this is by defect or design, since some people still have problems after the hotfix.

Thank you for the kind words. I am currently running a stable 175/400 OC which yields me a 9700+ Firestrike score and consistent good gaming experience. My last day to return is Saturday. However I have decided to keep the machine. I feel I need to keep this thread going and keep on Razer to get this machine tweaked further.

I have been a closet Razer freak for years. I have a ton of Razer products including mouse, keyboard, mouse pad, backpack... I just have this thing for their style. I do not condone lower performance in comparison to any other 1060 equip laptop... which is why the fight is not over.

Soon as the Kaby Lake Blade is released it will further help the cause of this thin profile they essentially live by and market. I will be picking that up soon after it's available next year. I'm in this for the long haul and I'll be here to help going forward.

Just to add.. played wow for almost 5 hours tonight. Battery went down to 96% but no lower. This is by design! However getting as low as the 60s as one member mentioned is NOT normal. Just clarifying.

Ok guy i guess lot of people don't get the battery discharging problem is because they got FHD, because after i change my DotA 2 to FHD it stay @ 99% ( showing not charing ) after a few games, and same with GTA V. So i guess unless i want to kill my battery i shouldn't play at QHD+... Fine with me i only get QHD+ for light entertainment. Hope they will fix this. BTW some old game @QHD+ doesn't make the batter discharging so i guess the problem is because previous EC version restrict the power so the adapter didn't need to provide much power as this version. Maybe they did a little bit too much in this version so it discharging @QHD+ in some intensive game.

Hey @Firebat246 : are you experiencing any mouse stutter while using the box for productivity?

I installed the fix, and the score is higher now @8910, but it is still below 9000. Anything I can do to make it perform even better? I was already in "Cooling Mode", so thermal should not be an issue. Drivers are up-to-date.
  14. That is weird. Did you deinstall killer lan manager and turned off the geforce experience? Anyway the fix has to be working without these 'methods' though. :slightly_sad: Mine is as well below 9k without these solutions.

I had the Kill software uninstalled, but I had kept Nvidia Exp on.
I just ran the test again, with Instant Replay off, now I am getting 9127 at Fire Strike!

I commented about 50 or more pages back. I ended up getting the Gigabyte Aero 14. GentechPC just posted their youtube review of the unit and it scores a firestrike of 9400+ out of the box.

I think Razer is being conservative. They could have pushed the Blade to perform as same as the others, since the chips are the same. Maybe it is about thermal management?

how are the temps on the Aero?

and how loud are the fans under load?

With 175/400, I can get a around 9500. I did all settings in Nvidia Control and Intel HD Graphics. When I played Civ 6, every 5 minutes the game screen would become unresponsive but the sound would keep going. Once I removed the OC, I didn't experience the problem again. It appears that the OC is not stable in some games.

Different apps and people will be able to OC to different amounts. I could do 200/400 for Time Spy but only 140/200 for Firestrike (didn't push it as hard as I could have),
