Doesn't that defeat the purpose of OC if some games are not stable? A good OC should be stable across the board so you don't have to apply it depending on the application.

Sure, I just mean that when I was first benchmarking I got 200/400 easily, but only because I was testing Time Spy. After I got Fire Strike I realized I couldn't sustain that in the heavy particle scenes, my chip would VRel cap and then fail. A stable OC would have to be lower for me. My final point was different people's machines will OC differently anyway because each chip will have minor variance.

    Read. Important.

I called Razer support and told them I am done playing the lotteey and that there are two options: either they back their prkducts up and replace my unit themselves (not MS Store or BestBuy) with a warehourae pre tested unit, or I just return my laptopand ahopsomeplace else. For 2.3k tgis is not a crazy request. Ms apple dell all manufacturers do that (reapectable ones)

It turns out they will overnight me a tested unit once i ship mine back with a prepaid label (they provided)

Everyone experiencing this problems should do the same and have razer standing up for their products.

If I take a Surface Pro to the ms store and I tell them it doesn't work on the spor, will give me a new unit. I do not expect less for any premium product.

I'm just sharing my experience and what I think is the best way to eliminate uncertainty and looking like a clown at every retailer shop

None at all no.. mouse always seems smooth in every game. WoW can get weird at times but it does that on my desktop too... anything else seems fine 100% of the time.

There are some games I can roll with 180-200ish on the core.. but 175 so far has been good across the board. WoW crashes on 180 so I dialed in back to 175. WoW is also a completely different monster when it comes to OCing. ALSO you have to remember every time you upgrade to a new Nvidia driver you have to find a new stable OC. One setting may not always be stable in every build. Not to mention GPU ASIC quality will vary from card to card. Blah blah etc etc.
  6. I would be very interested if someone has Prepar3d (A Flight Simulator made my Lockheed Martin) to see if they had the same issues as me.

When I would launch that "game" within seconds of starting a flight my power adapter would constantly disconnect and reconnect and my screen/keyboard would flicker back and forth between brightness settings.

I checked and almost 100% of my CPU was being used for this game (Which was great) other than it not being able to handle this.

However, this only happened when I had Throttlestop active and BD Prochot disabled (Before the EC 4.0 upgrade was available).

I would consider going back to the blade If this issue was fixed and I could actually use that program.

I'll bet you $2400 they will not test the laptop at all prior to shipping and just trying to appease you w/ next day pre-paid shipping. Curious to see the outcome.

@Firebat246 - thanks for all of your testing, mine went back today. I know battery drain down a few % is normal for all laptops. Mine went down a bit and then started re-charging again right when I stopped playing a game. Normal behavior in most laptops is battery sits at 95-96% and re-charges once it falls below that level. That's why I assumed my Blade had issues, if it was normal it wouldn't re-charge right when I stop gaming.

I would use that money and give the Razer Blade Pro a try. Perhaps, they did a better job there.

It's performing like a GTX 1070 laptop when it has a 1080... Same issues with that model regarding throttling. The dream is dead except for a select few who won the silicone lottery and can gain performance that is the norm via stable overclocks. Time to spit out my Kool Aid and move along.

You are mistaken... it is only 10 of us with problems. The cake, is obviously a lie.

Have anyone successfully raised from < 9k to 9.3-4k on stock after the EC update?

Damn, they are playing with fire. Those are some serious grounds for false advertising. Let's put a 1080 to market this laptop and make it perform like 1070 to accommodate for the heat. It's easier than marketing a 1070.

I might go back to Dell XPS 15 as it was my 2nd favorite laptop after Razer. Hopefully they put a good graphics card in it.

This has been my journey so far over the past month. I am on my Third Blade currently. My last day to return it to the Microsoft store is this Sunday. I have gone through several iterations of benchmarks/ tweaking overclocks, as well as uninstalling, reinstalling programs, doing a fresh Windows install on a new SSD, and doing the EC update.

Straight out of the box my stock Razer Blade scored a 9378. This was the highest stock out of the 3 Blades I had, and I was curious to see how much more I could squeeze out. Pre EC Fix I used Throttle Stop along with + 165/400 to score a 9 858 consistently. I was pretty happy at this point with my results, as I was able to play TitanFall 2 and BF1 and not have any weird hiccups with fps drop, or random freezing. With that said I had to use Throttle Stop and an aftermarket OC utility...

Next I saw that Razer had released an update to EC. I went ahead and installed it, along with at the time of this writing the latest Nvidia driver. My stock score remained the same around 9378-9400.

Moving onto overclocking, I found I could no longer maintain the +165/400 with or without Throttle Stop. With that said, I found my new stable values of +150/200, resulting in a score of 9735. Next thing I did was test my games. I found I was not having any hiccups with fps drop so all was great. Now yes my Fire strike score dropped, but the score is not the end game. My games ran just as great as before with the slightly higher score, but now I did not need to rely on Throttle Stop.

So yes I do think Razer addressed some of our woes regarding performance, but I am frustrated with how it still seems a lot are not observing the expected performance of the GTX 1060 we see in other laptops. If we accept lower than expected performance, it will create a slippery slope where manufacturers will advertise their laptops feature "X" gpu but in reality it performs like the inferior "Y" gpu (see the issue with Blade Pro with GTX 1080 performing like GTX 1070 laptops).

So come Sunday, I think I will be keeping my Blade. But never before have I had to spend so much time in tweaking a device to get it to work like it should with its advertised specs.

  15. I'm on stock NO OC or throttle stop. No killer and no G force experience.

After EC 4.0 latest Intel and Nvidia drivers, fresh reboot and on high performance,

Highest on stock was 9401. And consistently get 9.3+ everytime I run it.
Pre EC update i was getting ~8600 Consistently

    On a side note:
I've been a part of this thread since the beginning and there's a lot of good info in here.
I was also one of the first to receive the blade 1060 way back in pre order days.
